Physician Associates for Healthcare Improvement (PAHI) celebrates a significant milestone with the publication of its first paper in Education for Health: “A Comparative Analysis of the UK Physician Associate Curriculum Against the Prescriber Curricula for Pharmacists and Doctors.” This study examines how well the Physician Associate (PA) educational curriculum aligns with prescribing pathways for pharmacists and doctors, as the profession progresses towards statutory regulation by the General Medical Council (GMC). Key findings include: • Strong alignment in areas such as patient-centred care, professional knowledge, and professionalism. • Gaps identified in technology use in prescribing and clinical governance, which could be addressed to enhance PA preparedness for prescribing roles. The research supports the potential for PAs to be granted prescribing authority, with recommendations for curriculum development to ensure readiness and patient safety. 📖 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/eugUFf5C This work underscores the importance of curriculum refinement and collaboration to expand the scope of practice for Physician Associates in the UK. #PhysicianAssociate #HealthcareImprovement #MedicalEducation #PrescribingRoles #PAHI #PhysicianAssociateEducation #CurriculumDevelopment #ResearchMatters #PatientSafety #EducationForHealth
