My Creative Career has been an awesome edition to our site 🥁 Catching up with advertising legends to hearing stories of how they got started in the industry, learning all about the pivotal moments in their career! If you haven’t already, have a read: https://lnkd.in/e9rHZxj8 #Creative #Career
When I pitched The Drum's My Creative Career series to Cameron Clarke last year, I had no idea it would become one of my favorite projects to work on. As I'm based in Glasgow, I wanted to find a way to connect with people from around the world working in advertising and creative industries, and a profile series seemed like the perfect approach. Exploring people’s professional journeys and learning how they achieved their success has led to some of the most fascinating conversations I’ve had, and I’ve loved every moment of writing these stories. This year has brought plenty of highlights, and as I get ready to wind down for the Christmas holidays, I’d love to share a snapshot of a few with you. ✍ Highsnobiety's founder David Fischer talked me through the early days of the brand and how he’s led it for two decades to become one of fashion’s most important resources ✍ Kneecap’s Rich Peppiatt was very honest about taking on the tabloids and making one of this year’s hottest films. ✍ Trevor Robinson OBE got into the backstories of ads like Tango’s ‘Orangeman, creating cultural impact since the 90s and Quiet Storm Agency turning 30. ✍ Turner Duckworth’s Sarah Moffat on the crazy ride that was working with rock band Metallic on a “shoe-string” budget. ✍ VML’s Debbi Vandeven on starting from the bottom working on a desk in the hallway to becoming the most-awarded CCO in the world. ✍ Pamela Drucker Mann, the global CRO at Condé Nast, talked about going from flannel shirts and Doc Martens to the impeccably dressed offices of Vogue (Plus, what it’s really like to work with Anna Wintour.) Thank you to everyone who has spent time with me this year, chatting and telling me your stories. I’ve loved it! Can’t wait to see what 2025 brings. Ps, Link in the comments to the series #Creativity #Advertising #Marketing

We’ve gone deep into the Omnicom/Interpublic Group (IPG) merger and gathered analysis from the industry’s best. But if that’s not your cup of tea (or coffee), we have an interview with Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt and a critique of ChatGPT’s Sora tool. Also keep an eye out for VCCP’s Nick Lewis arguing that agencies need to SLOW. THE. FUCK. DOWN! Show that one to your boss in ’25. You're welcome. You can expect a final wrap-up next week before all of our journos get into eggnog bliss. Thanks for reading.

“On a more personal note, I’ve always respected John and Philippe. Not only because one was my boss 20 years ago and the other speaks French very well. I’ll let you guess which one is which! So, I wish them both a happy and healthy marriage.” Publicis CEO Arthur Sadoun has issued a tongue-in-cheek video message to his global teams to react to the Omnicom IPG deal that will steal away their 'top dogg' position in 2025.
