  • 🎄 December at The Rotary Club of Leicester & Impact Group 🎄 This December, our Rotary Club of Leicester & Impact Group will come together for a special holiday celebration, combining two important events: our annual Christmas Meal and the Christmas Food Parcel Packing and Delivery Drive. The food parcel initiative has grown in significance over the years, with demand in our local community reaching new heights. These parcels provide essential food and supplies to families and individuals in need, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a festive season, no matter their circumstances. 🥫🍞 As we gather to share a meal and celebrate the season, we’re reminded of the profound impact we’re able to make through our collective efforts. The support of our members and volunteers is more crucial than ever in helping to bring warmth and care to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone involved for your ongoing generosity and dedication. Together, we continue to make a real difference in the lives of so many. 🙏💙 #RotaryLeicester #ImpactGroup #ChristmasDrive #CommunitySupport #FoodParcels #ServiceAboveSelf #MakingADifference

Wesley Hall would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to The Rotary Club of Leicester for their incredible generosity and kind donations to our food pantry. Your support comes at a time when it is most needed and deeply appreciated. The rising cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for many families across Leicester to make ends meet. At Wesley Hall, we are committed to providing essential support to those who are struggling, and the donations from Rotary Club Leicester will go a long way in helping us achieve this mission. As we approach the festive season, we know this time of year can be particularly challenging for families facing financial hardship. The food parcels we provide not only ease the burden but also bring some much-needed cheer and hope to those who need it most. These small gestures can make a big difference, especially during a season traditionally filled with celebration and togetherness. Over recent weeks, we’ve seen a significant increase in referrals from social workers, social prescribers, and early help teams, particularly as the month of December progresses. This underscores just how critical the need for support has become in our community. To continue meeting this growing demand, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors like you. We are immensely thankful to everyone who has contributed so far, and we encourage others who are in a position to help to consider supporting our food pantry. Every contribution, big or small, helps us to bring a little more relief and comfort to families in need. If you would like to support the Wesley Hall food pantry, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 0116 262 6000. Your kindness can help make a real difference this festive season. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community goes without during these challenging times. Arch Klumph's leadership as the 6th president of Rotary International led to the creation of The Rotary Foundation, a global force for good. In 1917 he proposed a fund that would ensure Rotary could improve lives far into the future. This simple yet powerful idea has since evolved into a vital part of Rotary that funds life-changing initiatives in areas like education, health, and peacebuilding. Klumph's legacy continues to inspire Rotary members worldwide, with The Rotary Foundation funding projects that address critical issues such as clean water, disease prevention, and sustainable development. His dream of "doing good in the world" lives on, creating lasting change and fostering international collaboration.

  • A big thank you to the Rotary Heartwize team, who attended our latest Impact meeting. The Heartwize Programme aims to increase public awareness of the problem of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, to ensure that basic resuscitation skills are taught in schools and to improve awareness and provision of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in the community. By providing support and training in basic resuscitation skills, they hope to ensure that everyone knows how to recognise and respond to a cardiac arrest. The Rotary Heartwize team came with their kit, and everyone had a chance to practice chest compressions and use a defibrillator on their mannequins. It was a great opportunity to have practical lessons and learn how to use life-saving equipment. • Earlier this year a local Social Worker asked the Rotary Club of Leicester to help a family with 3 small children with additional needs. Their garden was completely overgrown with weeds and they were unable to go outside. As time was of the essence, it was the summer holidays, and the children were essentially stuck in their lounge, a team of three Rotarians from the Impact Group attended to take the weeds down to ground level and start to remove some of the roots. One Rotarian also donated some new garden toys. This meant that they could go outside when it was dry. A team of 5 Rotarians carried out a second visit to clear some of the regrowth and most importantly the roots to reduce the problem recurring. Although the garden was ‘cleared’ as requested, this problem was far from solved, if left untreated, the weeds would grow back and the family would be left with a muddy mess when it rained. The Impact Group went back in September, rotavated the ground and covered it with a membrane to reduce the chance of the weeds returning!
