About us
The National Lottery Community Fund has a critical role to play in supporting communities to unleash their energy and potential so they can get to where they want to be. We are one of 12 distributors of National Lottery funding. We work closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the license holder for The National Lottery, currently Allwyn, to distribute National Lottery funding across the UK. Social connections and community activities are at the heart of creating healthier, happier lives and a flourishing society. That’s why The National Lottery Community Fund supports amazing community-led projects, and why we’re looking to make a bigger difference in the years ahead, by listening and responding to communities and by focusing on supporting bolder change. Thanks to National Lottery players, we plan to distribute at least £4 billion of funding by 2030. Supporting projects that will create resilient communities that are more inclusive and environmentally sustainable. Projects that will strengthen society and improve lives across the UK. To find out more about our latest strategy, #ItStartsWithCommunity, visit our website: https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/about/our-strategy Our work is divided into five portfolios, covering funding across England, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and the UK. Each of these portfolios has its own committee of non-executives making major funding decisions via three funding streams: small grants under £20,000, larger grants of over £20,001 and partnership grants that support organisations to collaborate and innovate. 🎉 Dame Julia Cleverdon DCVO CBE appointed Chair of The National Lottery Community Fund 🎉 This morning the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Secretary of State has announced the appointment of Dame Julia Cleverdon DCVO CBE as Chair of The National Lottery Community Fund. I’m thrilled to welcome Dame Julia Cleverdon DCVO, CBE to The National Lottery Community Fund. I know Dame Julia as the nation’s foremost champion for communities and cross-sector collaboration—a leader who has dedicated her life to driving positive social change. Today, I’m on my way to Birmingham to kick off events marking the 30th anniversary of the National Lottery. Over the last three decades, we’ve awarded nearly £20 billion in funding to good cause projects in communities across the UK, benefiting around 5 million people at any one time. There couldn’t be a more exciting and timely moment for Julia’s appointment, helping us deepen and strengthen our It Starts with Community ambition as we embark on the next decade’s journey. Please join me in giving a big 👍 welcome to Dame Julia! I'd also like to extend my thanks and appreciation to our outgoing Interim Chair, Paul Sweeney, as he returns to his role as Chair of The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland. Paul’s deep wisdom and guidance to me and all at the Fund has been invaluable over the last year. Thank you, Paul. https://lnkd.in/epW9XDNm

It was my pleasure to join Louisa Mitchell MBE (AllChild) at the launch of AllChild (Formerly West London Zone) new Wigan partnership, together with a star cast of local community organisations and experts. Supporting children and young people to navigate the trickiest transitions in their life is a key part of The National Lottery Community Fund plans, so we can help young people thrive into adulthood across the country. Experts in communities, like AllChild, are at the forefront of helping young people and The National Lottery Community Fund we are proud to support them, and look forward to continuing to work with them to make a huge impact on many people’s future. Great to speak alongside @Andy Burnham Greater Manchester Combined Authority where he talked about how this fits with his priorities for the Greater Manchester area, and @Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP Department for Culture, Media and Sport to hear her passion for supporting young people across the country. Last week, we announced our new funding approach in England, where we will be putting community power, agency and control at the heart of our funding to ensure we realise the ambitions of our strategy #ItStartsWithCommunity. Our strategy also places the importance of enabling children and young people to thrive as a key community-led mission, and the work delivered by AllChild shows an alignment with our intentions.
