Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA)

The extension to the sunset clause on the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) to 2035 has now been officially confirmed. HMRC Treasury has confirmed the extension of the Enterprise Investment Scheme relief and Venture Capital Trusts relief to shares issued before 6 April 2035. An extension to the clause was announced last November and passed through parliament in the Finance Act 2024 in February. Yesterday was confirmed as the appointed day that the extension came into force: “3rd September 2024 is appointed as the day on which section 11 (extension of enterprise investment scheme relief and venture capital trusts relief to shares issued before 6 April 2035) of the Finance Act 2024 comes into force.” Our thanks to the Tax and Technical committee chaired by Philip Hare, the EISA Board and all EISA members who have worked so hard with us to confirm this extension. Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025 from the EIS Association 🎄   We have had an incredible year, not only due to the confirmation of a 10 year extension to the EIS, but also our celebration to mark the 30th Anniversary of the EIS which was held in September.   We have also welcomed many new members, spread awareness of the EIS and SEIS across the UK, recognised important work at the EISA Awards and so much more.   Our thanks to every EISA member, to all of our event speakers and attendees, and to all of supporters in industry and government.   We look forward to seeing you all in 2025!

Congratulations to EIS investee company, 23.5 DEGREES LIMITED, which has recently been acquired by Starbucks and is now its largest UK franchise.    23.5 Degrees received investment from Connection Capital LLP and EISA member, Seneca Partners Limited, through its Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) Portfolio Service to support the company’s growth.   Seneca first invested £1.5million in 2015 and this exit has delivered a 7.5x return for EIS investors.
