7 top tips for improving your utilisation rates and keeping boredom and burn-out at bay: ⏱ Track all time – log how long things actually take rather than just what was originally allocated. ⏱ Make sure you’re selling the right hours – look to your pipeline to see what’s coming for each department to avoid one team being completely overloaded while others are underutilised. ⏱ Keep your scheduling accurate – overbooking time leads to people either finishing early and having nothing to do or stretching the task out to fill the time. ⏱ Make sure briefs are ready on time – to avoid people waiting around, wasting chargeable time. Keeping all project information in one place can help with this. ⏱ Invest in staff development – sometimes you have to invest time to make time. Upskilling teams means you won’t just throw all your work at your most experienced people when time is tight. ⏱ Keep processes tight - think templates, streamlining and automating – anything you can do to make life easier for people will free up their time to work on chargeable projects. ⏱ Minimise your meetings - time spent sitting in meetings is time not spent on chargeable work. Getting the balance between chargeable and non-chargeable work right can be tricky. If people are under-utilised they’ll be bored and unfulfilled, but aim too high and they’ll quickly become stressed out and fed-up. #AgencyManagement #AgencyUtilisation #Agencylife
