Let’s take a moment to talk about The Jazz Social – for the first time in our 32-year history, we welcomed our very own pop-up venue. The Jazz Social was our very own community space and Festival hang for the 2 weeks of the EFG London Jazz Festival with a jam-packed schedule of radio broadcasts, live performances from internationally renowned artists , a pub quiz, networking nights, family-friendly events, a record shop, artist signings and more! In just under 3 months, we created a venue from scratch which served as meeting place for not only our Festival community, but the wider public, workers in the area, artists and industry professionals alike, offering a brand new space to unwind, discover new music and socialise with in the Festival’s spirit of celebration and community. Many thanks to our partners Culture Mile BID and Brookfield Properties who have made The Jazz Social possible in 2024 along with all of the staff working tirelessly around the clock in the space, Everything Jazz, Blue Note Records, Champagne Thiénot, Pink Pepper Gin, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, LCCM, Audio Gold, One Jazz, Jazz FM and John Henry's Ltd. https://lnkd.in/dCG3S3qV

About us
Producer of live jazz, international & contemporary music: artistic entrepreneurs who handle marketing, production and every logistical detail for major concerts, festivals and national tours through to learning and participatory programmes, conferences & specially-commissioned bespoke events. We align our work as music producers with a commitment to learning and participation at every level, offering audiences the opportunity to take an active part and to deepen their understanding. Serious is known for its warmth and empathy towards artists, who are always at the core of the company's work - whether a musician is at the beginning of a career, making progress and winning recognition, or is already internationally renowned. Serious is committed to providing professional development opportunities that enable young and emerging artists to reach their full potential. The company makes a major contribution to the arts world through a national programme that is internationally recognised, working with a network of partners to ensure the greatest reach for our work. Our largest event is the annual London Jazz Festival, which has grown from its beginnings in 1993 into the largest pan-London music festival, with over 300 events each year. It began life with a brief to bring major stars to London (with an emphasis on new work) to reach out to new audiences, to develop an integrated learning programme and to raise the profile of jazz in London. It has succeeded triumphantly on all counts. The Festival defines Serious’ approach to partnership. As well as creative relationships with headline sponsors (currently EFG International, and previously BBC Radio3), other sponsors, funders, trusts and foundations, every year we work with over 50 venues and producers and we carry with us the aspirations of the most exciting end of the jazz scene across the capital, from major concert halls to tiny clubs, as well as museums, libraries and schools.

We're now close to the end of our Big Give appeal and while we’re a long way off our target of £20,000, we wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has donated so far 🙏 For two decades, Take Five, our flagship talent development programme, has been at the heart of the UK’s jazz and improvisation scene. 📈 By the Numbers: - 150+ Participants: Since 2005, Take Five has supported over 150 composer-performers including the likes of Nubya Garcia, Seb Rochford, Shabaka Hutchings and Yazz Ahmed. - 70% Rise to Prominence: More than 70% of alumni have gone on to headline major festivals, win awards, or secure record deals. - 50+ Industry Experts: Each cohort benefits from mentorship by leading figures in jazz, including producers, festival directors, and agents. - 20 Years of Performances: Every year, participants showcase their work at prestigious venues, with many debuting at the EFG London Jazz Festival. This Christmas, as we kick off our campaign to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Take Five, we need your support to help us ensure that Take Five continues to be a cornerstone for jazz development with your donations going directly towards mentorship, training and performance opportunities. Donate to our 20th Anniversary campaign before midday on December 10, and your gift will be automatically doubled. https://lnkd.in/g-KTG76Q #TakeFive #TalentDevelopment #Serious #ChristmasChallenge #TheBigGive

Imelda May has become one of the UK & Ireland’s most celebrated female artists. Her self-written & produced album ‘Love Tattoo’ remains the best-selling album of all time by a homegrown female artist in Ireland. Having last performed at the EFG London Jazz Festival over 6 years ago with Jeff Goldblum, she now returns to headline the Royal Festival Hall along with special guests + support from Bernfhoft.
