There are huge benefits to being part of the north east's well-established life science sector, not least working with partners across organisations and industries to improve health. Stronger collaboration improves NHS treatment and care, and we're delighted to be involved in another big step forward through a £2.5 million investment to advance #innovation of diagnostic tests and more effective treatment. Our North East Innovation Lab - part of Newcastle Hospitals is supporting Linear Diagnostics and Microplate Dx , in partnership with NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) on two projects to better diagnose a wide range of illness and identify the most effective #antibiotic treatment. Ashley Price, consultant in infectious diseases at Newcastle Hospitals and clinical lead in infection for the Newcastle NIHR, says “It’s really exciting to be supporting the development of innovative technologies which could transform the diagnosis of common infections in the community and hospitals. These technologies will make the process of diagnosis more efficient and help to ensure patients are given access to the right treatments as soon as possible." Newcastle's Research Internship scheme run by The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with additional funding from NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), has been successfully contributing to a positive culture of research. This innovative 6-month development programme funds healthcare professionals to make space to undertake a work-based research project in your clinical area on one day per week. #MakeSpace4Research In October, together with Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP), we hosted the Health and Care “Research is all our Business” event, inviting health and care professionals across the region. Over 50 professionals from a variety of health and care services attended the event and had the opportunity to listen to talks, share experiences and ask questions. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eUraG8Xm Express an interest to apply by 26 November 2024 Midday 🔗 https://lnkd.in/efyVmKHi.
