We’re excited to share our support for the new ISO 56001 Innovation Management System – Requirements. This key standard, launched at the BSI Innovation Day in London yesterday, is set to revolutionise how organisations manage and scale innovation. Our innovation director, Jon Rains, helped draft this standard through the BSI committee and along with representatives from 50 other countries. By embracing ISO 56001, we intend to boost our innovation capabilities and enhance our ability to generate new value for our clients using the systemic and systematic approach. Reach out to Jon to find out more.

The need to address #decarbonisation in infrastructure is critical. So, how can we make low-carbon design and management more accessible and deliver lasting change? Organisations' decarbonisation roadmaps are bespoke, but they all address two challenges: meeting the rapid pace of change and making the right #carbon choices early. To help asset owners, operators and investors decarbonise their infrastructure inclusively, we developed the Low Carbon AI Assistant. It builds on our Carbon Portal solution and enables project professionals to explore material and design changes across the project lifecycle responsibly, regardless of their previous carbon experience. Read this article by David Orr and find out how #LowCarbon thinking is possible at pace and at scale. 🔽 https://mottm.ac/48RCahO #DigitalInnovation #AI #ArtificialIntelligence

Congratulations to Steven Melens on winning Energy UK's Young Energy Professional (#YEP) of the Year Award! Emma Pinchbeck, Energy UK, judged this award and gave the following feedback as to why she chose Steven as joint winner: “Training skilled workers is a top priority for the energy transition. I was impressed that Steven had taken the initiative to secure a brand-new professional accreditation and training programme for all chemical engineering with Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). The entrepreneurial spirit, problem solving, and teamwork Steven demonstrated is outstanding. His work with IChemE will benefit the whole industry and utilities more broadly. Congratulations Steven, well done for all your hard work and I look forward to witnessing the impact your work will inevitably have on the energy industry.” Find out more 🔽 https://mottm.ac/4hMf14q

Basil Mott was inaugurated as the president of the Institution of Civil Engineers in November 1924, in recognition of his significant achievements and contributions to civil engineering. He drew on 40 years of experience in developing London's transport systems to highlight the lessons, challenges, and opportunities that are still relevant today. James Harris, our executive chair, reflects on the long-term value of infrastructure and how our projects have transformed communities over the past 100 years since Basil Mott's inaugural speech. Honesty and communication are vital to maintaining good client relationships and enabling successful project delivery. At the recent ACE New Zealand #Futurespace2024 conference, Nick Gillespie, major projects and development director for New Zealand, shared the lessons we’ve learned from managing client relationships through pandemics, media interest and budget constraints. ✈️ Have the client’s best interests at heart and continue to maintain relationships at multiple levels across the stakeholder group, even during periods of tools down. 🏢 Act early to support compliance and take all stakeholders on the journey when agreeing and resolving approaches to address non-conformances. 🏟️ If the brief and budget are not aligned, present numerous permissible options to move forward. 🎉Seek out opportunities to celebrate project successes with the whole team whenever possible. How do you handle challenges in major infrastructure projects? Share your experiences in the comments 👇

Fantastic to see our team up on stage at #AllEnergyAU showcasing their expertise in front of the Australian #Renewable #Energy industry. As part of the diversity and inclusion stream, Angela Cooney, principal energy advisor, spoke about why diversity in leadership is key and how organisations can enable this. Her presentation indicated that diverse leadership teams enhance financial performance, foster innovation, enable better decision making and improve overall team performance. Maurice Oldham, technical director for energy, discussed the parallels between the Australia and US decarbonisation pathways and the importance of an economy-wide approach. Gas system decarbonisation will require a holistic approach involving pilot programs for innovative solutions, low carbon gas procurement, and electrification as well as waste stream diversion incentives. Climate disclosure legislation is coming to Australia and Cassandra de Stigter, principal advisor for climate and energy, shared the must-knows for Australian businesses. She reviewed the steps that businesses must consider when preparing for the legislation and the downstream implications that will affect the entire value chain. Our energy advisory lead for Australia, Ed Chan, joined the EV stream to lead an important discussion on how the regulatory and legislative framework can help accelerate kerbside EV charging. Ed highlighted that by 2050, 97% of the road fleet, or 19 million vehicles, would be electric but current charging infrastructure is lagging behind EV uptake.
