We're so proud to have been part of this important initiative which aims to prevent unexpected infant death in #Merseyside.
The sudden, unexpected death of an infant is an extremely tragic and traumatic experience for any family. It also has a significant impact on those who respond and investigate. After the number of sudden, unexpected infant deaths doubled in Merseyside between 2019 and 2022, Merseyside Police worked closely with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to adopt a joint agency problem-solving approach to prevent this. Recognising that families were unknowingly putting their infants at risk with unsafe sleeping practices, they developed the Safer Sleep initiative which aims to: 🔹 raise the public’s awareness of safer sleep practices 🔹 improve partnership working with the NHS 🔹 supporting families and building trust in communities Read more about the initiative: https://lnkd.in/eN6XQxsS

Our #ProjectServator officers are working closely with Ministry of Defence Police colleagues while the Royal Navy's largest aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, is docked in Liverpool. If you see armed officers near the ship or river patrols, don't be alarmed. We use a variety of tactics as part of the ship's security operation, including these highly visible specialist teams on land and water, and less visible measures such plain-clothes officers and links into Liverpool City Council's Citywatch CCTV system. As part of ongoing work to tackle serious and organised crime in #Merseyside, police and partners held an event at the Odeon Cinema in Liverpool One this morning for young people. The ‘Dear Merseyside’ event was attended by the families of Ashley Dale, Olivia Pratt-Korbel, Elle Edwards and Sam Rimmer and featured a film with spoken word artist Joseph Roberts delivering a message of awareness and hope across EVOLVE areas, which are those identified as being worst affected by organised crime groups. 120 schoolchildren from 10 schools attended and heard from Everton in the Community LFC Foundation and Catch 22 who provide support and services to young people at risk of exploitation or have already been exploited by organised crime groups. The aim of the ‘Dear Merseyside’ event was to start reaching a younger audience to promote the work of EVOLVE in helping to shut down criminal gangs and strengthen areas that have been worst affected by their activity, which is where the children who attended live and go to school. EVOLVE is Merseyside’s response to the Home Office’s Clear, Hold, Build strategy which is a multi-partnership approach to improve communities identified as being worst affected by serious and organised crime. EVOLVE aims to clear these areas of criminal gangs through intelligence-led enforcement targeting organised crime groups, their networks, business interests, criminality and enablers. There are three existing EVOLVE operations in Merseyside – EVOLVE #Liverpool #Knowsley which extends to Dovecot, Yew Tree, Page Moss, Longview, Huyton and immediate surrounding areas; EVOLVE #Netherton covering the Park Lane area; and EVOLVE #Wirral which covers Woodchurch, Beechwood and Noctorum. EVOLVE Everton will be launching in the New Year. Our message is clear❗ Nowhere is safe when it comes to driving under the influence 🛑 Today, we teamed up with Lancashire Constabulary to launch Operation Limit, an annual national campaign to crack down on drug and drink drivers over the festive period 🎄 The joint operation took place at Robin Island in #Maghull on the border between the two regions. Traffic moving in both directions was subject to randomised stop checks, with drug wipes and breathalysers being deployed by both forces on drivers coming and going from each area. Please remember: 👉 Alcohol and drugs can remain in your system for longer than you think. You could be over the limit when driving to work the next day, or even with your children on the school run. 👉 Everyone on our roads has a responsibility to keep themselves and others safe and we have zero tolerance for those who choose to drive impaired. 👉 Say no to drink or drug-driving so everyone can stay safe and get home this #Christmas Don't be the reason for someone or yourself becoming a casualty on our roads and think before you get behind the wheel. Anyone who suspects that someone is either about to, or is currently, driving under the influence should call 999.
