  • On Wednesday we showed our appreciation to Eton College Boat Club for rowing the furthest distance as part of The Big Row 2024 and raising the greatest value of funds. They raised over £6000 for Love Rowing inclusive and accessible projects that change lives. We were delighted to watch the boys in their fun Christmas pudding relay race, and to talk to them about how their fundraising makes a difference to people's lives. #makingadifference #rowingisforeveyone As a reward for their contribution to The Big Row, they were inspired by a visit and talk by Love Rowing Ambassador Grace Prendergast who also handed out Big Row medals to all that took part. #thebigrow2024 We also surprised Guy Pooley with his reward for leading the team - a beautifully warm Love Rowing Dry Robe. Perfect for such a cold day. Our thanks to dryrobe for donating the Dry Robes and supporting #thebigrow2024. It was fantastic to meet UK Coaching Community Coach of the Year winner Hannah Vines and hear about her exciting plans to support more young people from deprived communities through the community programme at Dorney Boat Club. • #mondaymotivation It has been great to check in on the progress of our recently funded projects. Trentham Boat Club Juniors are midway through delivering their junior outreach programme including indoor rowing sessions Trentham Academy. The programme has already reached 706 young people who would not have accessed the sport otherwise. As a follow up the club have offered a free taster session to all young people who have been introduced to rowing for the first time. "Fantastic to have Trentham Rowing Club and Love Rowing in to provide a great opportunity for our Year 7 and 8 boys to participate in indoor Rowing activities. The sessions have helped to develop our student's confidence, perseverance and team work skills. We look forward to welcoming Trentham Rowing club back after Christmas to deliver some more sessions for our Year 7 and Year 8 Girls." • Happy International Day for People with DisABILITIES! Today we want to celebrate the love of rowing experienced by disabled people/people with disabilities. Love Rowing has created the Row the Rhythm initiative for people with a visual impairment. Established with a pilot at Peterborough City Rowing Club, and now extended to 2 further clubs and a fourth in the initial phase, we aim to facilitate Row the Rhythm at 10 sites. We want to change the narrative and provide confidence for people with a visual impairment that rowing is their sport. Text 2 is a quote by Elizabeth which reads: Being on the water was simply wonderful and for the first time in months I felt I had found something I could do. The sense of calm and freedom that rowing gives me is wonderful. I don’t feel visually impaired when I am rowing, and I now also feel part of a great rowing community of friendly, supportive rowers.

Happy International Day for People with DisABILITIES! Today we want to celebrate the love of rowing experienced by disabled people/people with disabilities. At Love Rowing we believe in the power of Mixed Ability Rowing and are seeking partners and donors to support us to replicate the model across rowing clubs in the UK, contact our Foundation Director, Rebecca Gibson, [email protected] #internationaldayforpeoplewithdisabilities Visual description: Text is a quote by Sue Wheeler which reads: I loved rowing from day one, to be able to move without pain, it’s even better than the freedom my wheelchair has given me ... but most importantly it’s being with others. Text 2 is a quote by Dan which reads: I have really enjoyed rowing with Mars, made brilliant friends and it is great watching people grow in confidence. I have also learned to cox which I’ve never done before, really enjoyed it. Definitely a favourite part for me is taking people out in boats and coxing them. Looking forward too many great rows in the future with Mars.
