We want to say a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated to our #BooksForChristmas Appeal 🙏 Thanks to you - our wonderful supporters - our elves are now out and about delivering copies of 'Humanimal' and 'We Are All Animals' to children facing Christmas away from home, in a hospice or hospital. Our appeal total currently stands at £1,000. If you haven’t already done so, there’s still time to make an individual or corporate donation. Whilst we can’t guarantee delivery by Christmas, every £20 donated will mean another book can help to bring a smile to a child’s face 💚💙 https://lnkd.in/eYhJctnj #Fundraising #Christmas #Donate

One Medicine for humans and animals
About us
Humanimal Trust drives collaboration between vets, doctors and researchers so that all humans and animals benefit from sustainable, medical progress but not at the expense of an animal’s life. This is One Medicine. Healthcare can and should advance hand in hand. A two-way street between human and veterinary medicine is both possible and necessary for humans and animals to benefit equitably from cutting edge advances. • We increase awareness and improve understanding of One Medicine • We facilitate collaboration between human and veterinary medicine • Through education, we inspire everyone to take the One Medicine message forward • We fund, facilitate and share research • We influence legislative, policy and practice change. Advances in both human and animal medicine can be achieved more quickly, if there is closer collaboration and mutual learning. We believe and advocate that this will lead to progressively fewer laboratory animal tests until one day they become obsolete. Technological advances in the diagnosis and analysis of naturally occurring disease mean that for the first time in history the end point of the study of disease does not need to involve the death of an animal. We believe we all share responsibility for creating a fairer society, with better opportunities to benefit equitably from medical progress for humans and animals. If we miss this opportunity we will all pay the price in wasted time, wasted money and the wasted lives of both humans and animals.

Dogs don’t just share our lives, but also risk factors for certain diseases like cancer 🐶🦠 Many of these diseases share genetic similarities between humans and dogs. Canine lymphoma - one of the most common cancers in dogs - has relatively similar characteristics to human non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Both species need better, more effective ways to treat the disease. That’s why we have launched a new £250k fund to encourage collaborative, One Medicine research projects that can improve cancer diagnosis; develop new treatments or improve existing ones; and improve quality of life for all species with cancer. The deadline for applications is 29 December. For further information, click here: https://lnkd.in/e9t4cUcu #OneMedicine #Research #Cancer

We asked 6-year-old Charlotte, the adorable face of our Books for Christmas Appeal, to tell us what she thought of ‘Humanimal’ and ‘We Are All Animals’ 👣🐾 She said: “I loved finding out about loads of different ways that animals are just like me. The pictures are really cool and I learned about lots of animals I’d never even heard of before, like zombie worms, drongos and a type of monkey called a bonobo. Some bits made me laugh a lot and I learned that animals are much cleverer than I thought they were.” If you would like to bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas, donate £20 to our #BooksForChristmas Appeal and/or buy a copy of ‘Humanimal’ or ‘We Are All Animals’ for a child in your life 📚 The deadline for guaranteed delivery before Christmas is midnight on Sunday, so what are you waiting for? ⏳ https://lnkd.in/eYhJctnj #Education #Collaboration #Fundraising

Today is Giving Tuesday - a simple idea that came about in 2012 and has now become a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. This year, we are asking our supporters to get involved by donating to our #BooksForChristmas Appeal 🎄 For a donation of £20, we will send a copy of 'Humanimal: Incredible Ways Animals Are Just Like Us!' or 'We Are All Animals' to a children’s hospital or hospice in the UK on your behalf.
