I'm excited to share that Fauna Connections, the annual Faunalytics virtual symposium that I co-organize, is now open for registration! On September 19th, this day-long virtual research symposium — kicked off by our outstanding keynote speaker Ignacia Uribe R. — will cover 13 presentations over three critical areas: 1. Regional Advocacy: what are pressing issues for the animal protection movement in different continents? 2. Small-Bodied Animals: how can we help chickens, fishes, shrimps, and octopuses? 3. Strengthening the Movement: what are the big-picture strategic decisions we should be thinking about now? Not only will you have a chance to learn from these new research studies, but you can talk with the researchers in small breakout rooms, ask questions that apply to your work, and chat with the scientists and Faunalytics staff to build your network. It's all about connections! View the line-up and schedule here: https://lnkd.in/e-WdCweh Register here (it's free!): https://lnkd.in/es4R3s6G

Have you ever had a colleague struggling in the workplace, or a peer express that they are experiencing compassion fatigue - and you wish you had the tools to support them? The 3Rs Collaborative (3RsC) has created extensive materials to promote compassion fatigue resiliency! They have now created a NEW resource designed to inform individuals how best to support their peers. Check out this resource at the bottom of our their Institutional Compassion Fatigue Resiliency resource page: https://lnkd.in/eE-vrd_V #compassionfatigue #resilience #animalresearch
Animal research personnel are exposed to animal suffering, euthanasia, and social stigma while deeply caring for research animals. As a result, they can experience difficult emotions leading to workplace stress and compassion fatigue. The 3Rs Collaborative has created extensive materials to promote compassion fatigue resiliency for our field. This includes a resource hub for individuals and institutional support resources. We are very excited to add a new feature to our resources: a peer-to-peer support resource and manual for building a peer-to-peer support program. You can find this resource at the bottom of our institutional resources page (https://lnkd.in/eE-vrd_V).

This week, I started Animal Advocacy Careers's short online course. The British philosopher Karl Popper said once: "It is one of the novelties of human language that encourages storytelling and thus creative imagination. Scientific discovery is akin to explanatory storytelling, to myth making and to poetic imagination." What if we blend storytelling, food tech writing, and animal advocacy tactics to turn hearts and minds toward a kinder world for animals? ♥️ 🐄🐖🐓🐟 Join the course to amplify your voice for animals, too. #AnimalAdvocacy #Storytelling

Our webinar with Animal Activism Mentorship is now live on YouTube! https://lnkd.in/gkvNWDU7 In it, our founder Steven Rouk talks about why it's so important for us to keep social norms and social influence in mind when we're advocating for animals. If we don't understand that most of the time, "we do what our friends and families do," then much of our impact will be lost. But if we learn how to apply these lessons from social network science, then we can accelerate our impact for animals. 📈🚀🐥 (And from the look on his face in the webinar screenshot, I'm sure Steven is explaining something VERY important and serious here. 😂)

We're thrilled to share an insightful article published by Tradeline “Resolving the Reproducibility Crisis in Animal Research.” The article emphasizes the importance of considering external variables to ensure accurate and reliable research outcomes. Cindy Buckmaster PHD, CMAR, RLTAG, a skilled professional in laboratory animal care and research advocacy, shares a compelling perspective on this topic. She states, "We cannot keep ignoring the way extrinsic factors impact data collected from animals. This information matters for anyone who wants to do something with that data… A measurement system will help us reach the desired outcome: 'stronger science, faster cures, and fewer animals.'" 👉 Check out the full article at the link below: https://ow.ly/GRG350RqL26 #3Rs #StrongerScience #FasterCures #FewerAnimals

📌How many of these stories exist? Too many. Justify was created because we saw a need and knew, with our team’s firsthand experiences in the animal research industry, we could be the ones to help. Like any mission-driven organization, this work is made possible by those who believe in the cause and want to see positive change take place for humans and animals alike. Will you help Justify help others share their stories, heal their hearts, and advocate for scientific progress without human or animal suffering? 🐀💚 https://lnkd.in/gJzHMwjV #GivingTuesday
