Last week we had an inspiring Tech Day in our Newcastle HQ! ✨ Our CTO, Joe Thompson and our Head of Engineering, Rebecca A. shared our exciting strategy for 2025 and beyond, along with the introduction of our Data & AI Lab! There was also a roundtable discussion with the Design & UXR teams to discuss how to further improve the collaboration between departments. To close the day, there was a general roundup of key successes and recognition at the end of everyone’s hard work over the past year. Last week we participated in our first ever One Strawberry Lane Festive Housewarming 🎄 Our Senior People and Culture Advisor, Catherine Roberts took the floor to introduce hedgehog lab, our culture and how we support our community, along with some inspiring goals for 2025. Being a Delivery Manager is a truly rewarding experience, especially when the foundation of your work revolves around people. It’s a role that demands a lot, but it also gives so much in return. What I really enjoy about it is that no two days are the same. It's dynamic, blending leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving to ensure projects move from concept to completion. 👉 What is your favourite hobby? My favourite hobby is Cuban salsa dancing. It has been a part of my life for nearly a decade and it’s not just about movement—it’s a vibrant celebration of rhythm, connection, and self-expression. Dancing fills me with pure joy and gives me a profound sense of belonging. 🌟 Exciting news from our design team! Connor McLeod, one of our talented designers is collaborating with York College, York UK, mentoring aspiring young designers and one of them graduated with a First! We are thrilled to see that one of his mentees, Laura Smelt recently graduated with a First-Class honours degree and is now embarking on a career in design! Laura said "Working alongside hedgehog lab during the course was great too and helped me a lot when I went on to interview for the role I am doing now." This achievement highlights the vital role mentorship plays in shaping the future of creative professionals. Connor said about his role "There has been so much change over the last decade in design, not just the intense focus on user experience and use of psychology but also the interviewing process and how you get a job - it’s been great to expose design students to the realities of today’s design industry."
