The consultation on our budget proposals for 2025/26 has opened. The Council faces a £10.8m net gap for 2025/26 largely due to further financial pressures in social care and housing. Savings are expected to be required to balance the books. No decisions have been made yet, and we want residents, partner organisations and businesses to have their say. Children from Coventry primary schools took part in a kabaddi tournament and enjoyed a pre-match fan zone at the Coventry Building Society Arena over the weekend! Coventry City Council, Sky Blues in the Community and Coventry City Football Club held a celebration event that included the kabaddi tournament, cultural activities and a pre-match fan zone in the exhibition hall. The children who took part in the tournament have been training in kabaddi over recent weeks and were able to compete at the arena ahead of a Coventry City game. The children were given tickets to watch the match to congratulate them on their participation. The event was made possible by the Premier League Fans Fund and United By 2022 Charity funding. The project also aims to introduce kabaddi as a sport to communities around the city, as well as engaging the South Asian communities in the Foleshill area to matchday experiences at the CBS Arena. Hear more about the day on the video below and see our link in comments for photos.

Last week we held an Arts and Culture Community Mixer event where we joined together organisations and freelancers across the arts and culture sector in Coventry. Organisations networked and got the opportunity to decide if they would like to be a part of a group Arts Council England grant funding application. More than 100 were in attendance with a successful outcome of more than half wanting to support the application. Learn more as we hear from Coventry City Council representatives, Laura from The Belgrade Theatre and Sajida from Creative Black Country. Listen in⬇️

An award-winning ground investigation contractor, Geotechnics Ltd, based in Torrington Avenue, is laying the foundations for future success after investing in state-of-the-art survey equipment. They contacted the Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and Coventry City Council to find out if there were any grants available to upgrade its Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) ahead of the 3G wireless mobile network phase out. This led to Geotechnics receiving a grant of £18,150 to help fund the cost of the equipment through Business Growth West Midlands. Read more in the news article in the comments!
