We'd like to think that all of our followers would find themselves on Santa's good list. But, sometimes people are unaware of the impact that using something like emojis as bullet points has for screen reader users. In case you didn't know, emojis all have their own descriptions assigned to them and are read aloud, which often causes posts to not make sense. If you were being honest, would you make it onto the good list? We help organisations become digitally accessible so individuals can access online content and services independently.
About us
Digital accessibility is a complex issue, there are some things which can only be found if tested by people with lived experience. We employ a team of testers who are both professional and personal users of assistive technology; they are experts at what they do. This human interaction identifies nuances and detail that other forms of testing may overlook. Organisations that prioritise digital accessibility are seen as socially responsible and caring, as it’s about creating an equitable online environment whereby individuals can undertake day-to-day tasks in an ever developing digital world. Shaw Trust Accessibility Services has a social purpose to challenge inequality and break down barriers to enable social mobility enabling individuals to access online content and services independently. We support organisations to achieve internationally recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) by providing qualitative feedback and enhancing our customers understanding of the digital challenges faced by their users and ultimately their customers. This takes testing beyond a basic compliance exercise and focuses on improving the experience of all digital users at a human level.
