Across so many industries, incomplete, inconsistent, unstandardised, siloed and fragmented data is creating a huge problem. Especially now as more and more AI is using these datasets directly and to create synthetic data, the danger presented grows so much more. This patient centric solution is interesting, but in the end I don't think it should be down to the individual to solve this problem. As the essay highlights Singapore is doing, it's time that, with permission, organisations holding private individuals data should be required to share, so that the dataset is of sufficient quality that we can actually create some effective, impactful systems. The protectionist approach has to end. As for the UIUX issues, there is simply no excuse for this. Whenever I design a system, I make it a point of bypassing the people who think they know what the end users want and, crazy idea, I actually talk to the end users themselves. Without understanding what each function actually does (which 90+% of the time is not what the managers/buyers/procurement people think they do), you end up creating exactly the kind of problems described. Sometimes, when you move fast and break things, the damage you cause has awful real world consequences.

🔓 Unlocking the Hidden Power of Business Communities: Chambers, Federations, and Associations in Singapore 🇸🇬 While they may not be as secretive as the image suggests, organizations like Chambers of Commerce, federations, and associations hold significant influence within the business world. They provide platforms for strategic networking, deal-making, and the exchange of valuable insights. I've always been fascinated by their history and purpose, especially those with unique roots like the Dutch business community in Singapore. Did you know the Association of Dutch Business Men started informally in the 1920s near what we now call Holland Village (which fun fact, isn't named after the Dutch!). It even predates the Hollandse School (opened in 1928), which helped Dutch families settle in Singapore. And let's not forget the Hollandse Club, founded in 1908. It's been a social hub for generations, and its diverse membership, with strong international and Singaporean representation, is a sign of its inclusive and dynamic community. The Association of Dutch Business People later merged with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in 2018, further strengthening the links between those interested in Dutch & Singapore business. These groups offer essential support for businesses and professionals: 1. More specifically, the difference between a basic chatbot and one powered by AI. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺? The recent hype around AI in Indonesia has created a classic case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Many companies feel the need to jump on the AI bandwagon without fully understanding what they’re getting into. The result? Tons of so-called “AI chatbots” being sold on social media and even online marketplaces. But when you take a closer look, there’s no real AI involved. Clients often get sold on flashy packaging and buzzwords. They believe they’re getting cutting-edge AI chatbots, only to discover they’ve been handed a basic program that runs on pre-set scripts and rigid rules. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁? Disappointment. A Step Forward for Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health Awareness I came across this article in The Straits Times today: https://lnkd.in/gGNmPdt5 It’s heartening to see Singapore take this important step in identifying and addressing these challenges. Early detection is critical—not just for timely intervention but for helping children and teens better understand themselves and thrive in supportive environments. From my experience with Empauwer, I’ve seen how life-changing it can be when someone finally hears, “This doesn’t define you—it explains you.” Getting diagnosed doesn’t change who you are, but it can give clarity to why you are the way you are. For some, it breaks their hearts—but for many, it clears their vision. It shifts the narrative from “What’s wrong with me?” to “This is how I can be empowered to succeed.” While this nationwide screening is a fantastic start, there’s still more we can do: 1️⃣ Be Sensitive: Addressing neurodevelopmental and mental health issues requires compassion and a willingness to truly listen to each child’s story. 2️⃣ Educate: We need to ensure that parents, teachers, and caregivers are equipped to recognize early signs and understand how to provide support. 3️⃣ Empower: Beyond diagnosis, we need to create systems that uplift—ensuring that access to therapies, skilled professionals, and community resources is both equitable and affordable. Some of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned through my work are that a diagnosis doesn’t define someone—it’s simply a tool to better understand how they experience the world. I often find myself in uncomfortable yet thought-provoking 💭 conversations with colleagues, and one topic that keeps coming up is AI in healthcare. I recently had a chat with my friend Sang’udi Sang’udi , who is leading his team to develop an AI model called "SarataniAI ," aimed at speeding up cervical cancer diagnosis. Their innovation earned them the CHIA Innovation Award at the 8th Tanzania Health Summit back in 2021. Our conversation was casual, but it struck me how rapidly innovation, especially AI-driven, is rising, mainly led by youth a.k.a Gen Z 😃. Yet, as much as we celebrate these advancements, there’s a pressing need for a regulatory framework that supports and nurtures these innovations. Friendly policies and easy access to localized data are crucial for training competent AI models. Regulators need to step up and guide young innovators through these challenges. At the Tanzania Health Summit , we have been empowering young innovators through our CHIA Innovation Award since 2020. This year, three promising innovators will be vying for the prestigious award at the 11th Summit in Zanzibar. I remembered a couple of months back when an European AI company was pitching to us, their COO was astounded when he heard we had pen and paper as BCP in our clinics, he could not believe we had to resort to such "old-fashioned" ways. Well it seems that conversation was prescient and the recent Crowdstrike debacle highlighted why "pen and paper" still has a place in this day and age. At many levels, this recent Crowdstrike/Microsoft incident highlighted the risk of businesses over-relying on 1 channel, delivery method or system. Intuitively, commercial entities tends towards operational efficiency in systems and processes, however as we have seen in this mini covid-like lesson, overconcentration can be detrimental for businesses as well, especially for essential 24/7 services such as in healthcare, security or infrastructural sectors.. "As Singapore gets progressively older – by 2030, about one in four citizens will be aged 65 and above – society needs to trial new ways of looking at senior healthcare." While this article is not about technology, this is so true. The existing, traditional models of care are not sustainable. They're not ready to absorb the grey tsunami that's upon us. At Glorious, our ambition with Junus is to provide the digital infrastructure to make that possible. Tech is only part of the answer, but this part does not exist today. Every organizations is different in their approaches or processes, but what strikes me is the lack of proper tooling. I'm not talking about tools to make the job a bit more easy or comfortable. I'm talking about fundamental tools to basically allow the organization to run smoothly, to delight families and to grow. How ironic, eldercare is one of the few markets that's limited by the supply. The demand is there, it's massive and it's growing, but most organizations don't have the tool to grow as demand grows.
