The HR Business Partner (HRBP) model has been widely adopted globally, but recent research reveals that its implementation in Scandinavian organizations is not without challenges. Based on findings from a Swedish case study, the HRBP role—designed to focus on strategic business objectives—often conflicts with the decentralized, collaborative nature of Scandinavian work culture. 🗻 Key challenges include: - HR professionals spend more time on operational tasks than strategic planning. There’s a gap in competencies, as many HR practitioners lack the business acumen required by the HRBP role. - Tensions arise between traditional HR roles focused on employee welfare and the business-oriented expectations of the HRBP model. The solution? Contextualizing the HRBP role to fit local norms—by embracing more teamwork within HR and realistic expectations for competencies—can help balance strategic goals with day-to-day HR needs.
