Whoopi Goldberg Keeps in Touch with All of Her Exes: 'There's Nobody That I've Messed with That I Absolutely Hate'

Whoopi Goldberg is explaining why she remains friendly with all of her exes.

One hot topic to come up on the Oct. 30 episode of The View centered on National Text Your Ex Day, and the co-hosts disagreed over whether it's appropriate to keep in contact with former partners after a breakup.

During the segment, Goldberg told the panel (including Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin) that "I'm in touch with all of my exes."

"I'm in touch with every one of them, because once they were my friends. It doesn't mean that we talk all the time, but I will be respectful enough for you," she said.

Continued Goldberg, "I don't have to sleep with you, I don't have to eat with you — I don't have to do any of those things that a relationship forces. But I can be [friendly], because there's nobody that I've lived with or messed with that I absolutely hate."

The Bits and Pieces author has been open about relationships and her views on marriage in the past, including during discussions on The View.

The Oscar winner, who is mom to daughter Alex Martin, 51, has been married three times: to Alvin Martin, cinematographer David Claessen and actor Lyle Trachtenberg.

She told told The New York Times Magazine back in 2016 that she was "not that interested" in marriage since she liked to live alone.

"I'm much happier on my own," Goldberg said at the time. "I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I'm not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don't want somebody in my house."
