People Editorial Guidelines Updated on December 1, 2020 08:12PM EST Carrie Underwood celebrated two births this year — her first child, Isaiah, and her first clothing line, Calia by Carrie Underwood. And the new mom brought one of her babies (that would be Calia!) to New York Fashion Week! Robin Marchant/Getty Underwood and her team transformed the West Side venue into a fitness hub with Calia-clad models interacting with guests, green juice flowing and an interactive shopping experience for those in attendance. “We just wanted everything to be fun and energetic, and I feel like we definitely accomplished that,” she told PeopleStyle. “It was nice to kick off fashion week in a fun way and hopefully make everyone smile.” And she also loved helping guests pick out pieces right from the new fall collection. “Usually, you have to wait — you see these fabulous things on the runway, but you’re like, ‘Oh, it’s for next season,'” she said. “We wanted to make sure people can see the looks and then get them.” Bryan Bedder/Getty During the live presentation, fit models showcased a variety of colorful printed leggings, cozy sweaters, scarves and gym bags. They also took time to pose in each of the looks to show how versatile the clothing is. “I didn’t have a whole lot to do with actually picking out the girls. because they’re here [N.Y.C.] and I’m in Nashville, but I definitely wanted real looking women. They are real women with different body shapes,” Underwood said. “It was so great to be able to talk to them backstage and they were talking about their day jobs. I was like, ‘Wow, you are like me. You do 5,000 different things” They also take care of themselves.” RELATED PHOTOS: Fashion Week 2015: All the Stars From the Front Row to the Fancy Parties Bryan Bedder/Getty For her part, Underwood wore a pair of black leggings from the label and a slouchy striped top. But she dressed up the athleisure look with gold metallic Ruthie Davis wedge sneakers. “The leggings are so comfortable,” Underwood gushes. “But we wanted to dress it up more with the shoes, and show what else you could do with these pieces. But I could also throw on some tennis shoes with this outfit and workout.” And versatile, comfortable, easy-to-wear pieces have become a central part of the busy mom’s wardrobe. “I think it [the birth of son Isaiah] was perfect the timing, because I need clothes like this more than ever now,” she explained. “I don’t have a lot of time to fuss in the morning getting myself together. I have to grab things that are cute and can fit with me all day long. My life as a mom has definitely made clothing like this absolutely necessary for me. So I’m glad i have lots of it.” So what’s next for Calia? A new swimwear collection launching in Spring 2016! Catch a sneak peek below, and tell us: What do you think of Underwood’s line?
