While hosting a launch party for her “baby” Fenty Hair at Nya West in Los Angeles, the Grammy winner, 36, spoke to the challenges she faced when entering the hair space. "Creating a haircare line is a lot more stressful than I thought. Considering all hair types, considering all of the brands that I've been in love with my entire life, I'm thinking, ‘If it's not better than this one, it can't work,’” the Fenty Beauty founder said in her speech during the June 10 event attended by PEOPLE. Rihanna Says the New Songs She's Been Working on for R9 Are 'So Good' Rihanna makes a speech about creating Fenty Hair ahead of its launch on June 13. Kevin Mazur/Getty Over four-plus years, Rihanna worked hard to create products that will not only appeal to the masses, but ones that she herself feels confident in using in her own haircare routine. “Evolving as a woman and even as an artist, hair has been such a huge part of that and a reflection of whatever I'm feeling. So, it changes a lot and my hair goes through a lot. Making this brand, I had to consider all of those things. I want to look fly, but I want my hair to be healthy. How do I do that? All of my products need to strengthen and repair while I'm out just being fabulous.” Rihanna Announces Launch of Fenty Hair Care Line with New Blonde Pixie Cut: Everything We Know At the launch, the mom of two gave a rare look at her natural curls (dyed her signature honey blonde hue). She wore a head-to-toe, wine-colored Khaite look and decked herself in ruby and diamond jewelry, including Reza round diamond A earrings and pear-shape diamond A earrings. While she jokes that Fenty Hair is one of the projects she's worked the "longest" on (with the exception of her upcoming album, R9, which fans are eagerly awaiting), Rihanna is excited to see what's to come. “Let's go make some money and grow some edges, bitch!” she joked at the end of her speech.Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
