On August 5, Starz released the first trailer for part two of the final season of Power Book II: Ghost, which premieres Sept. 6, and somehow, the targets on the protagonist's back continue to multiply – while the stakes for the father-to-be have never been higher. The clip begins with Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), Mona (Mary J. Blige) and Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) being held at gunpoint with their hands above their heads, teasing the life-or-death twists and turns that are sure to come in the spinoff series' final episodes. The teaser also shows a solemn-looking Davis MacLean (Cliff “Method Man” Smith) and a long-awaited reunion between Tariq and his mother, Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton), who has long been in witness protection, as well as more than one other instance where Tariq finds himself on what looks like the losing end of a fight. Per the official synopsis, Tariq is "stuck between a rock and a hard place, with the choice to leave the game or take over" in the final five episodes, while his friends and enemies face similarly daunting challenges. The Tejada family is entrapped by Detective Carter (Michael Ealy), and they're realizing "their safety is not guaranteed." Meanwhile, Monet is still fighting for her family "to become whole again" and Noma (Caroline Chikezie) continues working her way to the top of the food chain – but her daughter Anya (Sydney Winbush) is getting a little too close for comfort, "forcing Noma to think twice about her actions." Paul Schiraldi Ahead of the season 4 premiere, Rainey Jr., 23, told PEOPLE about the internal battle Tariq faces, saying, "The fact that he doesn't want to end up like his father is keeping him alive, but the fact that he doesn't realize that he's so similar to his father is pushing him closer to death." "You get to see Tariq's literal battle every day, from him just literally becoming like Ghost, but he doesn't even realize," the actor said. "We're diving into that this season and you'll see the challenges that he faces because he's kind of in denial." "Tariq really doesn't think he's like Ghost, but the world knows. The world knows. That definitely will be brought to the forefront a lot more this season."
