Power Book II: Ghost to Conclude with Season 4 — See the Haunting First Teaser!

Season 4 will be the last installment of 'Ghost', the first spinoff from the original 'Power' series, which concluded in 2020

The end is near for Tariq St. Patrick.

On Thursday, the first teaser trailer for season 4 of Power Book II: Ghost premiered, and saw Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) at odds with his inner circle — with multiple lives on the line — as he fights for his spot at the top of the food chain.

The brief teaser also showed some clips of some other concerned-looking Ghost characters — including David McLean (Method Man) and Detective Don Carter (Michael Ealy); a tense moment between Tariq, Brayden (Gianni Paolo) and others; and a truly distraught Monet (Mary J. Blige). As the teaser ends, Tariq stands alone, dressed in a black tuxedo, in a scene that looks eerily like it could be a funeral.

Season 4 of Ghost — the first spinoff series from Power, which ran from 2012 to 2020 on Starz — will be its last, the network announced in a press release on Thursday in tandem with the teaser premiere.

“This explosive season of Ghost is a fitting crescendo in a decade of an immensely popular franchise - fans will not be disappointed,” Kathryn Busby, President of Programming for STARZ, said in a statement. “While this marks the conclusion of one chapter, our commitment to the Power universe endures with more compelling storytelling on the horizon.”

Part one of the season will premiere June 7, and the final part will begin airing in September.

In the final season, it’s Tariq and Braydon “against the world” after they found themselves isolated in the season 3 finale.

“With new alliances formed in each faction, Tariq and Brayden must find a way back into the game — and a way to insulate themselves from ever being put in the same situation again,” reads the official synopsis. “But when Brayden starts flirting with a new, reckless lifestyle, Tariq wonders if there really is room for two at the top.”

As for the fate of the rest of the gang, Monet, who ended season 3 in the hospital, “has no idea” who her attacker is; Davis “fully embraces the criminal side of his enterprise and finds himself working for both sides — his loyalty dependent on whichever will benefit him most,” and Effie (Alix Lapri) “buckles down on getting out and securing a legit future at Stanford.”

Meanwhile, Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) find themselves questioning their “roles in the game and the family business, while Cane (Woody McClain) sees an opportunity to level up when he starts working for Noma (Caroline Chikezie).”

Noma — who Cane, Diana, Dru and Effie all sided with in the season 3 finale — is juggling her growing business while also keeping a “close eye on her bratty daughter, Anya, who is now on Tariq and Brayden’s radar,” the synopsis notes.

“With the fate of his future in the game and his family at the forefront, Tariq must reconcile his past to rise to the top of the food chain and become who he needs to be to protect those he loves most.”

The news that season 4 will be Ghost’s last comes after Starz announced a new prequel spinoff, Origins, which will explore “the origin story of fan-favorite characters Ghost and Tommy,” who were originated by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora, according to a press release. The spinoff will see Tariq’s father, Ghost, return to the screen in a “fresh light,” as Raising Kanan creator Sascha Penn helms the new series.

“As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the Power universe,” Busby said in a statement about Origins. “We can’t wait to see how Origins will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.”
