Warning: this story contains spoilers from the two-part series finale of Agatha All Along.

Agatha All Along ended with a groundbreaking moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The conclusion of the WandaVision spinoff included a unprecedented scene between Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha and Aubrey Plaza’s Rio when the two shared a passionate on-screen kiss during a pivotal moment, with Agatha sacrificing herself to save William Kaplan/Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke).

This marked the first lesbian embrace and second overall gay kiss — all while the series broke down barriers for LGBTQ inclusion and representation in the MCU during its nine episodes. (Agatha and Rio's moment was preceded by 2021's Eternals, which featured a gay kiss — a historic moment for the MCU at the time — between Brian Tyree Henry and Haaz Sleiman's characters in 2021's Eternals.)

As for Agatha All Along, according to Out magazine, showrunner Jac Schaeffer said it was "vital to include robust queer representation in this show."

Agatha and Rio, meanwhile, came close to embracing back in episode 4 of the acclaimed series, but the latter stopped it before it could happen. Fans were left wondering if they would see the two in an intimate setting like that again — and when it finally happened, viewers were moved by the moment.

“I stood up and applauded in my room alone,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter), while another wrote, “This is the most beautiful sapphic kiss I've seen in life!”

Another fan, meanwhile, couldn't get over the chemistry between the two, posting, "hello the PASSION?????? im dead on the floor rn"

At the premiere for Agatha All Along, Hahn revealed her excitement over working with Plaza — especially given their Parks and Recreation characters never shared the screen during the NBC comedy's seven-season run.

“That was a dream,” she told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “We had never had any scenes together in Parks and Rec. I think we passed each other in hallways, but for this to be the first time we really worked together was incredible.”

Hahn said that Plaza is "such an extraordinary actor,” adding, “So, to be able to play with her like this was so fun.”

Hahn also discussed her and Plaza’s long-awaited collaboration in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I just admire her so much as a performer, and I was so excited that she was playing this part,” she told the outlet. “Weirdly, once we got together to start shooting, our conversations stopped. We gave each other a lot of space. It's not like we ignored each other. We talked, but we never talked about [performance]."

"So when we got on stage together, there was definitely a feeling of on your heels, I don't know what's going to come at me, which was really exciting," she added.
