A police officer and father of two is dead in a crash in Pennsylvania over the weekend, authorities said.

The Phoenixville Police Department shared in a press release that officer Arthur Scena IV “died tragically in a vehicular crash in Warminster Township, Bucks County” on Sunday, Oct. 27.

The department did not provide any other details into the crash, however, the Phoenixville Daily Voice and NBC affiliate WCAU reported that he was on the way home after attending the funeral of a fellow officer, who died from cancer.

"Officer Scena leaves behind a wife (Amanda), step-daughter (Riley), and daughter (Reece)," police said, going on to share a link to a GoFundMe set up to support his family.

Scena, originally from Abington and raised in Elkins Park, Penn., had been a member of the Phoenixville department since 2019, according to police.

Before that, he also worked as a correctional officer for the Montgomery County Prison and as a police officer for the Philadelphia Housing Authority and the Chester City Police Department.

Lt. Bryan MacIntyre told WTXF-TV that Scena will be remembered as someone who was “always smiling, always joking and having fun.”

MacIntyre said that Scene also worked hard to raise money for the families of fallen officers and worked to organize memorial rides as part of the law enforcement motorcycle club.

"This is something that Art did for everybody," he added. "He had a huge heart."

"Art’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family and his community," read a message shared on the GoFundMe, which has raised over $86,000 as of Wednesday, Oct. 30.

"In this difficult time, we are coming together to support Amanda, Riley, and Reese," the message continued. "All funds raised will go directly to Amanda to help her and the girls navigate through this challenging period."

The Phoenixville Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information.
