The individual, who has not been publicly identified, was on Flight RK8293 from Tirana, Albania, to Manchester, England, on Sunday, Nov. 10, when the incident occurred, according to The Independent and Manchester Evening News. The flight was diverted to London Stansted Airport, where emergency crews met the aircraft just before 8:00 p.m. local time. Attempts were reportedly made to save the passenger’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Metro reported. One passenger on the flight claimed the man began “having convulsions” and was moved to the aisle, where CPR was performed by multiple people, according to the Manchester Evening News. "He stopped breathing and everything went into chaos," the passenger explained. "A few of us with first aid training jumped in to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was set. Life-saving measures were performed for nearly an hour after the man’s medical emergency began, according to the passenger. About an hour after being forced to disembark the plane, passengers were brought back on to the aircraft to finish their flight. The man and his friends were not among them. “I asked and was told that, unfortunately, the man did not make it,” the passenger told the outlet. "I was devastated to learn the sad news." Multi-Passenger Brawl Erupts on RyanAir Flight: ‘There Was No Calming the Situation’ A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service told the Independent that one ambulance, one Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, one paramedic car and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance responded to Sunday’s emergency. They confirmed the man died at the scene “despite the best efforts of all involved.” Neither the East of England Ambulance Service nor Ryanair immediately responded to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
