Tiffany Haddish Shares the Hilarious Reason Her Dog Makes Her Need to Buy New Underwear Regularly

Haddish's dog Sleeper has an inconvenient appetite for underwear

Tiffany Haddish is one of 2018’s busiest stars, so it makes sense she values her rest.

The Girls Trip actress adores sleep so much, she named one of her dogs after the nighttime activity.

“My whole thing is when I get to name creatures, I like to name them things that I like,” says Haddish, who recently sat down with her pets to talk about her love for animals for PEOPLE’s The Beautiful Issue.

“So I love sleep,” she explains about how 9-year-old Maltese/Yorkie mix Sleeper got her name. The pooch respects a good nap too, often falling asleep if she is held for more than five minutes.

Sleeper isn’t the only pet in the Haddish household, the comedian also has a 10-year-old pitbull named Dreamer and a cat she named Catonic, who she rescued from the set of her film Keanu.

But Sleeper is the only one with a bad habit that sends Haddish to Victoria’s Secret on a regular basis.

“She likes to go into my dirty clothes and pull out my drawers and chew up the crotch so then I have to go buy new drawers because it has all kinds of holes and stuff,” Haddish says.

Sleeper’s naughty nature has encouraged her owner to pick up some good habits. “I got to hurry up and wash my clothes immediately or put them at the bottom of the hamper cause she will go in there … like she’ll jump up and literally dig out drawers.”

Even though Haddish now has “aerated” underwear, she is thankful to have the tiny troublemaker and her other pets in her life.

“When I’m like really stressed out, or I can be sad and I’ll be sittin’ on the couch and they’ll come. I might break out into tears, they’ll lick all my tears up make me laugh,” she says.

With a packed schedule, these moments of affection matter to Haddish. “I feel like they’re always trying to figure out how to make me happy. Sometimes, I get so busy I don’t have time to like date or be like snuggled up or anything and I might fall asleep on the couch and I wake up and both of them and the cat are like all on top of my body.”
