Kristin Davis 'Thrilled' to Share That She Adopted the 'Perfect' New Dog from an N.Y.C. Rescue

Kristin Davis' family just gained a new member.

On Oct. 31, the And Just Like That ... actress, 59, announced she recently adopted a new dog named Chewy through Muddy Paws Rescue in New York City. Davis shared the news in an Instagram video posted in collaboration with the canine's foster mom, Isabel, who happens to run the Instagram Dogs & the City (@simonsits).

"SO excited for Chewy and his incredibly sweet, kind, and loving new mama @iamkristindavis ❤️ thank you @muddypawsrescuenyc for saving our boy!" Isabel captioned her post about Davis' adoption.

"I need to thank YOU @muddypawsrescuenyc and @simonsits for being so incredible!!! So professional and thoughtful and patient! Thank you for all that you do for so many amazing dogs- my kids and I are the lucky ones to have Chewy in our lives," the Sex and the City star responded.

Davis also expressed her gratitude and shared her excitement about Chewy's arrival in an exclusive quote to PEOPLE.

"I can't thank Isabel enough for being such an incredible and committed foster mom! It is so important to adopt rescued animals. Through circumstances beyond their control, many are ending up in jeopardy of being euthanized. No matter where you live, there are pets in need of adoption and rescue organizations that need support," she shared with PEOPLE.

"Muddy Paws in N.Y.C. does great work with pups large and small, finding new and loving homes for them. We are thrilled to have found Chewy; he is the perfect dog for our family. I am so grateful for the excellent care he received from Muddy Paws and @simonsits on his journey to us," Davis added.

The recently posted Instagram video featuring the UN Goodwill Ambassador's adoption reveals that Davis initially reached out about Chewy's availability while filming And Just Like That ... in N.Y.C. As soon as filming wrapped, she flew back to her home base in L.A. with her new pup.

"Meeting Kristin was such an incredible experience," Chewy's foster mom said in the video. "She was so sweet. So kind. She fell head over heels in love with Chewy. She adopted him that day."

Davis is no stranger to pet adoption and animal welfare projects. 

The Couple's Retreat actress has posted about her history of adopting from shelters on social media, and she is also a patron of The Orphans' Project at The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya.

The Orphans' Project mission is "rescuing orphan elephants, rhinos, and other species, raising them with specialist care, and reintegrating them into a protected wilderness," according to the organization's official website.
