"You were an excellent protector (even if we told you it wasn’t necessary), you weren’t big on other animals or the kids but you loved in your own way and knew how loved you were by all of us," she continued. "You had a big bark that seemed to scared some folks but you were actually the most gentle guy who was secretly scared of his own shadow." Mandy Moore's dog with her son. Mandy Moore/Instagram Back in 2021, the star also shared an update about the dog's health, revealing that he had undergone emergency surgery for a six-pound mass in his abdomen. "We are remaining positive and hopeful," she added, noting how the experience was heightened as she was pregnant at the time. "To say I'm beside myself about my sweet boy of 10 years is a bit of an understatement." Kerry Kennedy 'Heartbroken' After Dog Dies in 'Terrifying and Violent' Attack Hours After Mom Ethel's Death Moore has always been candid about her love for her pets, and has previously spoken out after the death of another one of her dogs, Joni. After the small white pup died in 2021, the Tangled star shared on social media that her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, had bought her a toy dog from Cuddle Clones that is a near-perfect replica of her late canine. In her caption, Moore said that Goldsmith bought her the stuffed animal for the holidays and that she intends to keep it so that their kids "will still know" Joni, who died unexpectedly. "This was by far my fav gift over the holidays- something that @taylordawesgoldsmith had made. It's a little stuffed animal version of my beloved Joni so that our son will still know her, even though they never got to meet," Moore wrote at the time. Close
