The Killers of the Flower Moon star, 37, reflected on the decade’s iconic trends at the West Hollywood premiere of her new Hulu series Under the Bridge. The crime drama, which also stars Daisy Jones & The Six’s Riley Keough, is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name and explores the real-life murder of a 14-year-old in 1997. When asked if any aspect of the series’ set triggered ‘90s nostalgia for Gladstone, the Oscar-nominated star replied, “Oh yeah, absolutely.” “The necklace that Chloe wears, the black choker that's kind of stretchy and looks like a neck tattoo,” Gladstone told PEOPLE on Monday, April 15. “I still have mine from middle school and I definitely rock it whenever I can.” Oscar Nominee Lily Gladstone Says Her 'Dream' Is to One Day Host Saturday Night Live (Exclusive) Under the Bridge actress Chloe Guidry (who plays Josephine Bell) has yet to appear in the necklace in the episodes that have been released, but the item clearly holds some significance for Gladstone. There’s even proof that the star wears the choker in her daily life — just take a look back at this Instagram selfie from March 2022. Keough, 34, also reflected on the ‘90s nostalgia while filming Under the Bridge. “Every set we were on was so nostalgic because you'd see little things from my childhood like staplers and pencil sharpeners and all these things that you just don't really see around so much anymore,” she told PEOPLE. “Yeah, it was very nostalgic.” In the series, which premiered on Hulu on Tuesday, April 17, Gladstone stars as Cam Bentland, a police officer investigating the murder of a young girl in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, while Keough plays Godfrey, who died in 2022. According to an official synopsis from the streaming platform, Under the Bridge chronicles “the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey (Riley Keough) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer." Gladstone’s latest role comes on the heels of her first Academy Award nomination. Though she ultimately lost the Best Actress award to Emma Stone, the star received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Osage woman Mollie Berkhart in Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. The crime drama also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons. The recognition was also history-making. Gladstone, who is of Siksikaitsitapi and Niimiipuu heritage, is the first Native American actress to be nominated for an Oscar and the fourth Indigenous actress to ever earn a nomination in the category.
