For his newest project, Law Roach threw it back to his childhood.

The image architect, 46, who is known for his work with icons like Zendaya and Céline Dion, partnered with Pepsi Wild Cherry for a new capsule collection that's all about roller skating culture from a day gone by.

"I used to watch roller derby with my grandfather, and it was these girls," he tells PEOPLE exclusively of where he drew inspiration for the vibrant collection. "These women were super badass, super athletic and super tough, and they all had their own personalities, almost like superheroes. And I just remember the costumes like that, those satin bomber jackets and the satin short-shorts."

Roach says he wanted to "invoke that nostalgia" for this collection with Wild Cherry Pepsi, so he brought the old-school roller derby outfits back to life in his new line.

The collection is full of Pepsi blue, which Roach says is a given, and also includes sateen bombers, shorts, snap-away pants, trucker hats, and a denim jumpsuit, which Roach absolutely loves.

"It's things that I want people to actually be able to love and wear over and over again," he says. "I'm really big into the thrift culture, and so those satin bombers from the late '70s and early '80s are so collectible, and I wanted my capsule to feel collectible. I wanted something that 20 years from now, people are like, 'Oh my God, that's Law Roach's capsule with Pepsi.'"

"The Pepsi brand has been a cultural trendsetter for over 125 years, and design has always been an essential element of that journey," says Jenny Danzi, Head of Pepsi Marketing in a press release. "Between the delicious, bold flavor and eye-popping design of our Pepsi Wild Cherry and Pepsi Zero Sugar Wild Cherry, it’s no surprise it’s one of our most craved colas. We want to help our fans embrace their wildly fashionable side with this new capsule collection — and no one could have brought the Pepsi Wild Cherry vision to life better than the creative powerhouse that is Law Roach."

Roach knows that Pepsi is an "iconic" brand, and he tells PEOPLE that he wanted to do something equally iconic with the brand, and thus, his vibrant and retro collection was born.

"Those are the things that 20 years from now, someone that's maybe in high school is going thrifting with their friends and they see it and they're like, 'Oh, s---. Oh my God.'"

Since officially retiring from his styling gig last year and only taking on projects that bring him true joy, Roach tells PEOPLE that this particular job with Pepsi was one that felt truly "authentic."

"I wanted it to feel very late '70s, early '80s, when I was such a young boy, but I just remember [times with my] granddad," Roach says. "All these things just are ingrained in you and you never realize that they're there until you have the time to express it. So when Pepsi came up, I was like, this feels like something that's really genuine to a part of me."
