People Editorial Guidelines Published on August 2, 2024 04:30PM EDT Comments Lainey Wilson is bringing the calm to her forthcoming album Whirlwind — and she's getting a little help from a friend. On Friday, Aug. 2, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter unleashed her latest track, "Good Horses," which features assistance from fellow country titan Miranda Lambert, 40. The track — co-written by Wilson, Lambert and Luke Dick and produced by Jay Joyce — touches on love always finding its way home, using imagery of roaming horses. "I don’t need a map, I don’t need a road," the pair sing. "I don’t need a fence, I just need to roam / If you wanna love me, you don’t need a rope / You just need to know / Good horses come home." The song is something of a slow-burn, featuring an acoustic guitar and the two country stars layering up some harmonies for added effect. They even teamed up for a stripped-down rendition on Instagram, which Wilson appropriately shared with the caption, "Good horses come home🐴." Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson. Writing with Miranda and Luke feels like home, and I will forever cherish the day we wrote this song,” Wilson said in a release. “‘Good Horses’ is all about finding your way back home, no matter where you are.” “‘Good Horses’ is about all the people that love the comfort of home, but also need to be free," Lambert added. "Lainey and I wrote this song at my farm with Luke Dick. Lainey is a genuine and authentic human. I love watching her dreams come true right in front of our eyes, and it’s so cool to be a little part of it.” "Good Horses" marks the fourth track off Whirlwind, and first overall collab shared from the album, which will be Wilson's first LP since 2022's Bell Bottom Country. Lainey Wilson Laughs Off a Wardrobe Malfunction When Her Pants Split on Stage at Music Festival: 'A Real Show' Ahead of the release of her new album, Wilson has shared tracks "4x4xU," "Hang Tight Honey" and "Country's Cool Again," and she's also had quite a busy year beyond the new music. Wilson was the recipient of the entertainer of the year trophy at the ACMs in May, got inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in June, and even joined the Rolling Stones on stage in Chicago that same month. The country star — who last year went public with her relationship with former NFL player Devlin Hodges — caught up with PEOPLE at the Twisters film premiere in Los Angeles last month. There, she detailed what it's like for musicians to separate their personal relationships from their public work. “The truth is, as a female in country music, you gotta make dang sure that you are tending to business, and you're out there whooping ass, and nothing is a distraction,” she said. “And people sometimes can view that, if you have a boyfriend, at times, they're like, 'Well, she's gonna get married and have babies.' ” “And, that's a point of view. But I'm like, guess what? We can do it all,” Wilson added. Whirlwind is set to release on Aug. 23. Close
