Lady Gaga Announces 'Joker 2' Companion Album Harlequin — and Confirms It's Only LG 6.5, Not 7

The album is mainly comprised of covers in line with the film's jukebox musical style.

New Lady Gaga alert! After a week of puzzling fans with cryptic social media posts and billboards, it all leads to Harlequin, the singer's companion album to Joker: Folie à Deux.

Keeping in theme with Joker's (played by Joaquin Phoenix) passionate (and vaguely sinister) scribbles, Gaga embodied her role of Lee (a version of Harley Quinn) for the marketing of the new album. In a series of Instagram posts that read, "I’m ready for my interview,” “Don’t tell me what to wear," “No duct tape. No mission,” among others, fans got a taste of Lee's personality.

And don't worry, original Gaga music is on the way. In a cheeky billboard, she dubbed Harlequin as "6.5," with LG7 still set to arrive early next year.

Todd Phillips' 2019 Joker adaptation was praised for bringing a more moody, nihilistic side to the iconic supervillain. In his long-awaited sequel, which arrives in theaters Oct. 4, the director took another risk by not only changing the standard portrayal of Harley Quinn into a more sophisticated one, but he also made Folie à Deux a musical.

A peek at the tracklist gives a hint at some of the songs to be featured in the film, including traditional Black spiritual "Oh, When the Saints," "World On a String" which might be a Frank Sinatra cover, "If My Friends Could See Me Now" from Sweet Charity, and the Carpenters' classic "Close to You."

Gaga recently made a surprise appearance at an early screening of the film and wanted to give back by throwing popcorn into the crowd. Unfortunately her all-black ensemble made it hard to hold the hefty bags.

“Enjoy the f---ing show!” she said to the audience. Kinda hard not to if Gaga chucked a popcorn bag at your head.
