People Editorial Guidelines Published on September 23, 2024 02:36PM EDT Comments Some lucky fans saw the new Joker: Folie à Deux with a side of popcorn from Lady Gaga herself. On Sept. 21, the Oscar winner made an appearance at an early showing of her new film in Los Angeles and tossed out popcorn to the audience. X user @ivic101 shared the sweet moment in a video. Lady Gaga (who plays Lee, a version of the popular D.C. comics character Harley Quinn) can be seen wearing a glamorous all-black dress with large puffy sleeves. The high-fashion look means she struggled to hand out the hefty bags of popcorn. “Enjoy the f---ing show!” she told the audience, after mainly tossing the popcorn to those in the front rows. At the end of the video, she dropped some of the snack bags on the floor but shrugged off the faux pas by simply laughing and picking them back up for the movie-goers. It's not like she's trying to be Harley Quinn from the comic books; she's Lee in this world," Phillips said of Gaga's performance. Phoenix was also impressed with Gaga's work ethic on set. "I found her to be without ego and had such a fierce determination. She would get right in with us," he said of Gaga, whose character finds love with Phoenix's own Arthur Fleck in the sequel. "She understood that there had to be a rawness to the character. There's not a lot of actors that are comfortable working in that way." Joker: Folie À Deux is in theaters Oct. 4.
