A spokeswoman for Griffin, the founder of hedge fund Citadel, confirmed the purchase to the outlet, saying that Citadel is expanding its presence in New York, and Griffin needed a place to stay while in town for business.

According to WSJ the 24,000 square foot apartment, located on Central Park, is housed inside a massive new building, which is nearing completion. The property will consist of an 18-story "Chalet," which faces the street, as well as a a 79-story tower. Inside will be numerous luxury amenities including private dining rooms, a juice bar, a golf simulator and a basketball court.
