"In particular my grandson, my little grandson James — he could be looking at firetrucks right now, but no. He chose to be here, so thank you, Jamesy. Grandpa loves you." Moviestore/Shutterstock Eugene's real-life son Dan, 40, recently joked during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show that his high school classmates thought the American Pie movies may have been based on his own life given his father's role in the series. "For most of my high-school life, people thought the movie was, like, a biography of my life," Dan said. "Which is really unfortunate, because I would've killed to have had a life that interesting. There were no pies — I don't even know about the ingredients of an apple pie, but that's a whole other conversation."
