Esten's character – father to Madelyn Cline's Sarah Cameron and Drew Starkey's Rafe Cameron — died at the Netflix hit's third season, but he made sure to check in on the Pogues in April when he happened to be in Charleston. "Big congratulations to all my @obxnetflix friends who wrapped production on Season 4, today! From everything I’ve heard, it’s going to be amazing and, like the rest of the world, I can’t wait to watch," Esten, 58, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on June 20 as he shared two selfies with the cast. In the first selfie, he posed in front of the Pogues' dilapidated car, the Twinkie, with Cline, Madison Bailey, Carlacia Grant, Chase Stokes, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow and a producer, and in the other photo, he sat inside the Twinkie with the cast. "I love this beautiful cast and crew, and I’m so glad I got to visit them on set back in April when I was in Charleston to play the @windjammeriop!! #outerbanksnetflix #wardinthetwinkie." 'Outer Banks' Gang Tease New Looks and New Adventures in Season 4 Teaser – Watch! The cast of the show teased fans about what's to come in the new season, too, in a video posted to the show's Instagram account. "The pogues have wrapped filming on OBX season 4!!!" Stokes began the video by telling fans, "Alright guys, we have officially wrapped season 4 of Outer Banks. It has been a crazy, crazy journey but it's done." Charles Esten/X Bailey, 25, then asked if Stokes, 31, shared a secret location where they filmed, with the place censored out of the video. "Oh, we're not supposed to do spoilers." He then checked in with Daviss, 24, who said he was "editing the show," while Cline, 26, Grant, 33, and Bailey worked together on the show's "sound effects." "We are so stoked about this," Stokes said as the cast gathered around him and expressed the same excitement. "See you guys soon." Everything to Know About the Real-life Pirate Name-dropped in the 'Outer Banks' Season 3 Finale Cliffhanger Following the devastating events of season 3 — both Ward (Esten) and John B's dad died — Stokes told PEOPLE that his character and Cline's are forced to "evaluate everything." "Where they are, what their purpose is, what their intentions are, and what was the actual value of it? Was it worth it, in hindsight? If they could go back and change things, would they? Or do they feel okay with it?” he said of how the characters feel following the loss. “Anytime you experience loss, it hits in spaces and in places that you don't anticipate." As for when fans can expect to get their hands on in the new chapter, Stokes said he has no idea. "They won't tell us anything. God's honest truth," he said of Netflix. "They're like, 'You guys might tell the world so we're going to keep to ourselves.'"
