The country superstar, 48, is taking on his first Las Vegas residency, Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2025, PEOPLE confirms exclusively. The run of shows will take place between Feb. 5 and Feb. 15 (tickets are on sale beginning Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. EST at blakeshelton.com.)

"It's been swirling for years now, and ever since the idea was first floated about opening an Ole Red in Las Vegas, this conversation has been happening too," Shelton tells PEOPLE about building upon his live music bar, which has locations in Nashville and Vegas.

"If you're going to have a stake in Las Vegas, you got to do a residency also if you're an artist," he adds. "I've just been kicking the can down the road because I wanted the Ole Red to be open before I did it."

The singer often delights fans by popping up unexpectedly at his music bars for an impromptu performance, and "while I'm there doing the residency I may end up over at Ole Red jumping on that stage one night," Shelton teases.

In late 2021 Shelton joined his wife Gwen Stefani onstage to perform their hit duet "Happy Anywhere," and he estimates he caught her show "15 or 16" times during its run.

His superstar friend Garth Brooks has also had a successful residency in Las Vegas, and Shelton is finding inspiration in his pal's shows.

"He played songs that he grew up loving and made him fall in love with music. I don't want to just rip somebody off, but I do love the idea of doing something that you wouldn't normally get to see out on tour," says Shelton. "So I got to figure out what that is, and now I'm going to start thinking about how it would be different than something I would do on tour."

Still, the former Voice coach is reassuring fans they'll hear his No. 1s. "I never want people to leave my shows going, 'S--- man, he didn't do "Austin," or I wanted to hear "God's Country."'"

While leaving NBC's hit singing competition show freed up a bit of his time, Shelton isn't slowing down. Earlier this year he and Stefani released their latest love song, "Purple Irises," which the country singer says is his "favorite" song of theirs.

"I'd always thought it was just something different. It sounded like it came from another time. She's been working and piling up songs for a while now, and I always went back to, 'Man, I love that one.' One day I was sitting at the house and she called me and said, 'Hey, what do you think of doing "Purple Irises" as a duet?' I was like, hell yeah!"

While fans — and Shelton — are now used to the couple collaborating, even he was taken by surprise when Post Malone reached out about a duet.

"It felt out of left field. Just being told that there was a song that he wanted to do with me was crazy to me. But then once I heard the song, it was like, 'Oh my God, of course.' Of course we're doing this song that's right up my alley," he says of "Pour Me a Drink."

While he and Post had previously crossed paths, they reconnected at the Super Bowl earlier this year and swapped phone numbers. "It was the most unexpected and fun project I've probably ever just been surprised with out of nowhere," says Shelton. "I've performed it at a couple of my shows. I've loved it."
