Blake Lively Wore Lip Gloss with ‘Alarming Amounts of Chili Peppers’ to Make Her Lips Look Plump in High School

Blake Lively is sharing one of her diciest past beauty practices!

The actress, 37, confessed in a post on her Instagram Stories on Monday, Oct. 28, that she put chili peppers in her lip gloss to make them appear plumper in high school as she compared her “millennial” makeup tricks to those used by Gen Z.

Lively first posted a selfie of herself in a bathroom sporting a smokey eye and pink glossy lips with her hair tied back, which appeared to have been taken after attending the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, as she shared that her makeup artist tried the “Gen Z eyeshadow lip” makeup trick on her. 

“When @cgonzalezbeauty does the Gen Z eye shadow lip trick to make your lips look huge…” she wrote over the snap as the song “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer played over the top.

The It Ends with Us star was referring to the viral makeup trend of contouring around the lips with eyeshadow before adding lipstick for a plump lip effect. 

“But then…” Lively added. She then posted a second bathroom selfie of herself having removed her makeup as she revealed her own past beauty tricks as a “millennial girl.”

“You wash off your makeup and accept that you are a millennial girl who, in high school used to wear lip gloss with alarming amounts of chili peppers inside for a plump because we were THAT committed to bad ideas,” she wrote.

“Turns out eyeshadows are way less painful than Carolina Reapers,” Lively joked, naming the hottest chili pepper in the world, according to the Guinness World Records.

The actress then thanked her makeup artist “for not turning my mouth into an episode of Hot Ones,” referring to the the popular YouTube series where celebrities eat chicken wings with varying degrees of hot sauces.

Earlier in the evening, Lively made a glamorous appearance at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City.

The Gossip Girl alum wore a chic all-white look by Micahel Kors as she came out to support the designer at the event, consisting of a long dress with a high slit at the side and an oversized blazer worn over her shoulders. 

She paired her look with silver embellished Christian Louboutin pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
