Last week we ran a 24hr sitewide sale for a client in the skincare space and made $74k in sales with a blended ROAS of 23.46. How did we do it? A combination of Meta Ads, Google Ads and Email / SMS. META ADS * We developed UGC and animated product videos * We targeted all funnel stages (no exclusions) to consolidate Meta Ads conversions into one ad set * We set the budget higher compared to daily average and let it run from 12am * We checked the performance midday - ROAS was over 19 so we tripled the budgets * The campaigns spent significantly more by 4pm and the ROAS was sitting at 15 so we 5X'd the daily budget to maximise spend before midnight GOOGLE ADS * We set up the account to capture the increased demand we created through Meta Ads * We updated the ad copy and pinned headlines with offer messaging * We added promotion extensions across all ads * We updated PMax assets with creatives that focussed on the promotion EMAIL / SMS * We sent 2 emails and 2 SMS campaigns throughout the day - highlighting the 24 hour sale * The first email was sent at 8am and a follow up email was sent at 8pm to the non-openers of the first email with "4 hours to go" messaging * We did the same thing with SMS with a follow up later than night Why did this work so well? It's all part of the eCommerce Scaling Playbook we follow at Webprofits. At it's core, the playbook is about "creating demand" for consumer products primarily through Meta Ads, supported by email / SMS and Google Ads. We focus on acquiring customers at scale by breaking-even (or making a small profit) off the first sale, and then making all the money on the backend. Because we have been scaling this brand for some time, we had created a lot of pent-up demand for the product from price-sensitive shoppers and existing customers. This first-time customer just placed an order for $935.85. Over the last 23 days they have visited the site 22 times. It's a great illustration on why you should create content and messaging that appeals to all types of buying behaviours. Some buy right away - I've seen it happen even on a $2,500 ticket price. Others think it through, for a whole bunch of reasons. Just chatted to a founder who has developed a backpack currently selling for $450USD ($737NZD). The design is slick and has some really cool features, but would you pay that much for a backpack?? Unsurprisingly, conversion rates are low and they've had a few swing-and-a-miss attempts with agencies/freelancers trying to get paid ads working. Here's my idea: This needs to be a status play – The backpack becomes a symbol of success, prestige and luxury. This needs to be framed as "The Bugatti of Backpacks" The type worn by investors, entrepreneurs, C-Suite execs and high status individuals. Great marketing looks beyond just the functional utility of a product and appeals to emotions, desires and status shifts. #marketing #ecommerce #d2c

I've audited over 100 Klaviyo accounts. Here are the 3 biggest issues I see in the Abandoned Checkout Flow 👇🏽 1. Using generic messaging - If your email has a headline "Come back and take a look at this" or "Did you forget something?" then your emails are going to struggle to convert. List out the benefits of your brand/products in the headline and subject line of the email 2. Lack of Split Testing Sending Times - A/B testing the sending times can make a huge difference with how your flow performs Here are the times I like to split test a) 5 minutes after b) 30 minutes after c) 1 hour after You never know which one is going to work for your customers so I'd recommend split testing all of these 3. Incentivizing - People are always searching for a discount. Don't be the brand that doesn't want to discount because of "Saving margin" or "Losing profit" Send out a discount in the 2nd or 3rd email that incentivizes the customer to make a purchase. It's better to save a sale and get smaller margins then have no sale at all. What Google’s Vicinity Update Means For Local Business Owners 🔎 Noticed anything different about the local search results recently? Well, if you’ve been surprised to find yourself higher up the local search rankings and in Google’s 3-pack, it’s due to the new update from Google. It’s known as ‘Vicinity’ and it was introduced late in 2021 to put greater value on proximity as a key ranking factor. However, if your website slipped down the rankings in Google Maps and your local search results and traffic are down, it could be that your keywords haven’t been used appropriately. Vicinity levels the local search playing fields and makes it difficult for websites outside a particular location to rank in relevant local searches. Keyword stuffing has always been a no-go, but Vicinity makes it even less likely to offer any advantage. If you’ve got a local business, you don’t need to do anything radically different with your SEO in response to Vicinity, but I recommend you evaluate your strategy to see if anything can be tweaked or added. I agree with Google’s recommendation that for online visibility and rankings success, you should stick to their guidelines. These include: 📌 Ensuring all your data is complete, accurate and consistent 📌 Verifying your locations 📌 Having up-to-date opening hours 📌 Having a solid review strategy which includes responding to ALL reviews 📌 Uploading optimised photos regularly If you’re a local business owner and want more info on how to optimise for Vicinity, let’s talk. +𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬% 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗬𝗼𝗬) 📈🚀 A few people have asked me for an update on a recent project I posted last week (they haven't really but I'll post this anyway). Link to the original post in comments. Yesterday we saw a +1,000% increase in new customers from Google Ads (YoY). Overall revenue was also up X5. The secret❓ Well, there's been a few changes, but the number one change in recent weeks has been: ✅ Building out properly setup Search Campaigns, with accurate targeting, a 10/10 setup, customisation and most importantly AB Testing & Experimentation. Such an underrated and under utilised technique. Search is still number 1 for me (over Pmax, Shopping or any other campaign type). These are 100% legitimate results, reported from the Shopify platform, not based on Google Ads data. #google #googleads #cpc #ppc

I've made $50m+ for my clients over the last few years with Google ads. Want to know when the majority of that revenue was made? You guessed it... Q4. That's why my team and I are taking it to an entirely new level this year. Whilst most in the industry are peddling the same tired old strategies from years ago... We are constantly pushing to stay on the cutting edge of what's working. Without further ado, here's our updated Google ads strategy for Q4 of 2024: 1) We make an aggressive volume of creatives in-house for our clients Google is no longer a simple game of keyword bidding. The platform is shifting towards interest based targeting on 'social' platforms. (Mainly YouTube, YouTube shorts & the discovery network.) Therefore, in order to scale these top of funnel channels aggressively... We need to be testing a high volume of creative (just like on meta.) It blows my mind that precisely ZERO other Google ads agencies are doing this. YouTube ads campaigns are our highest spending campaigns in 60% of our accounts. 2) We capture demand generated by paid social and outrank your competitors Spending thousands per day on Meta & YouTube ads creates a TON of searches. Think about it, if someone sees your ad on Meta but doesn't click & convert THEN & THERE... The first place they'll go to try and find your product again is Google. This is where the whole bidding on keywords thing comes into play. But my team approaches things entirely differently. We don't spend thousands for people that are already searching up our your brand name... Instead, we only target customers searching for cold product related keywords. 'White t-shirt', 'bella hadid necklace', 'mastic gum' etc. The MAIN mistake that most Google ads agencies make... Is letting branded traffic slip in at this level (especially within pMax.) 3) We retarget your website visitors everywhere ou know those image ads that follow you around the web? Or those YouTube ads that you just keep getting and can't get out of your head? That's probably us! Whilst almost every brand is retargeting customers on Meta... Very few are retargeting them on YouTube & display. This is a huge missed opportunity! (Just think about how many people go to your site during BFCM.) That's everything! Thanks for reading. Why making ads work (and highly profitable) on the front end is not down to luck - It's about tapping into new pockets of demand. Let's rewind a bit. We recently started working with this client. They had one of Australia's biggest advertising agencies previously running their ads. If you run any business, you've heard of them. I actually quite like their ads. Funny and entertaining. For our client though, it was a different story. One that I've gotten quite used to hearing. Goes like this. They get great results in the first week or two. High fives all around. Then creatives start to "burn out". Costs start rising. Return on ad spend suffers. So the agency pumps out new creatives. This improves performance for some time. Then it drops again. To make things worse, each time they introduce new creatives, they're less effective than the previous time. Costs increase further. The agency starts blaming the ad platform for "rising ad costs" (usually backed up by some report from some blog) Oh and don't even mention the "s" word. Scaling just sends the acquisition costs right through the roof. Eventually (sometimes within a month or two), these ads become unprofitable - and the business gives up on running ads. Same reasons: "ads never really worked for us" or "it's too saturated" or "our customers don't spend time on Facebook" ... the usual suspects. Then a few months go by .. with not much growth. So the business decides to "give it another go". But they run the same types of ads again. Just different versions of it. And you guessed it - same results. The cycle continues. The reason this happens is because most businesses are running ads to "product aware" audiences. You know the type of ads that start with "Are you xxx looking to get xxx ...." Most advertisers do it because everyone else is doing it. Vice versa. And Versa vice. But here's the thing. When you run ads like these, you exhaust the pent up demand in your market very quickly. That's why your ads "burn out" so fast. Because after your audience has seen your ads once, they only have two options: 1. Become your customer 2. Ignore all your future ads When the truth is, the vast majority of your audience is not "product aware". As in, they don't know they need your solution. It is the advertisers job to educate them and make them aware of the need for that solution. And this starts with the very first line in your ad. It needs to tap into newer demand pockets. It's what sets the tone for the second line .... then the third ... You get the idea. Your product/service will get mentioned. But not until the prospect is educated enough to even consider it. When you get this right, you tap into a blue ocean of customers. Ones who trust you and see you as the obvious logical choice to work with. That's when you have ads that don't burn out for months (or even years). Your costs actually start decreasing. And your ads become profitable and scalable.

What followed was a lesson in market dynamics. Their competitor noticed the gap and seized the opportunity by ramping up their own Google Ads campaigns.
