🌏 Build up Nepal is a proud 2024 Finalist for The Earthshot Prize, in the 'Fix Our Climate' category. We're proud, and excited, to be part of the newly launched 'Review of Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Building Technologies in Nepal', in Koshi Province. The initiative will pave the way towards: 🏡 Safe & sustainable building technologies 🧱 Empowerment of local entrepreneurs & masons with advanced skills 💚 Cost-effective, resilient & community-focused construction practices It is supported by the Nepal Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF), the The World Bank, and S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal). Together, we’re showing how to build better, by constructing buildings while fostering safer, inclusive, and sustainable communities. 🌏

A safe home is a human right. In Nepal, 2.7 million people still live in inadequate shelter. This leaves them vulnerable to extreme weather and disasters. Build up Nepal is making a disaster-resilient home accessible for all, with our cheaper and greener eco-brick technology. Dashain Majhi (pictured below) and his family were living in a small shack. Then they moved into their new home, and well, the smiles say it all... 💚

Our successful collaboration with the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) has come to an end, and we'd like to take a moment to celebrate its achievements and thank those who made it possible. It is a testament to the power of shared vision and impactful collaboration. 💚 With support from BPP, Her Excellency Ms. Leann Johnston, Australian Ambassador, Kamakshi Yakthumba, Kavitha Kasyanathan, Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australian Embassy Kathmandu, Palladium: Make It Possible, and Engineers Without Borders Sweden / Ingenjörer utan gränser, we empowered more rural entrepreneurs to produce affordable, safe, and eco-friendly bricks. Their micro-enterprises created local jobs, built safe housing, and opened up new opportunities for low-income families, women, migrants, and youth in Nepal.🇳🇵 🌏 Together, we are building a more resilient, sustainable future, one eco-brick at a time. And while we didn’t scoop the prize for Fix Our Climate - huge congratulations to Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems! - we leave filled with gratitude and excitement for what’s in store through The Earthshot Prize Fellowship. Our heartfelt thanks to Prince William, the entire Earthshot team, and our nominators (PDIE Group Impact Entrepreneur PBC Ashden Cranfield University Global Warming Mitigation Project and WRAP) for this incredible opportunity. We’re more determined than ever to build a resilient and sustainable future, for people and planet, eco-brick by eco-brick! 💚
