FuelEU kicks off in just two weeks – are you ready? The FuelEU maritime regulation is to be one of the most disruptive changes in the maritime industry, introducing stricter fuel requirements to drive emissions reductions. To help the industry navigate this, Hecla Emissions Management, a Wilhelmsen joint venture, hosted two seminars this autumn in Oslo and Bergen, alongside DNV and Wikborg Rein. Seminars provided practical insights into the regulatory, contractual, and commercial challenges of FuelEU maritime. With over 150 maritime folk attending, it’s clear the industry is preparing. We work in a challenging context when it comes to tackling corruption, which is why having clear standards is essential. Meet Teegan de Kock! Teegan is an operator for Wilhelmsen Port Services. It’s her job to ensure that a vessel’s stay in port is as efficient, cost-effective and compliant as possible – from the moment one arrives in port to the moment it departs. She joined Wilhelmsen straight out of school to combine her love for the ocean with her dream of traveling. Five years later, she’s lived in three countries and taken on diverse roles. Her favourite part of the job? Liaising between captains and customers, solving problems on the spot, and being Wilhelmsen’s “eyes and ears" on the ground. Meet Henning Hagemann in Wilhelmsen Ships Service! Henning and his team are setting up a charging station for Yinson GreenTech's electric boat fleet - a step towards reducing emissions in Singapore’s port. And it's a win for everyone. The project is in line with Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)'s plan to create the infrastructure needed to support new vessels using alternative fuels and at the same time, helps our customers reduce their scope 3 emissions. “Tackling a challenge, assembling the right team and doing something new – this is what makes a project like this so fun” says Henning. Shoko Isoda believes you just have to lean in. A year ago, she took the leap from make-up artist and entrepreneur to maritime industry, joining Wilhelmsen Port Services in Tokyo as an administrator.
