What does a senior vice president human resources administration do?
A CHRO/SVP/EVP above all needs to be a business person who ruthlessly prioritises a few matters that will drive organisation performance: - Building Organisation and Human Capability to deliver value for customers and shareholders - succession for focused number of critical and future value creating roles - Performance Management - Organisation and Operating Model Design with underpinning Culture development (the latter includes respect and fairness - management (!) and leadership development - CXO Coaching at Group and Portfolio level. I do argue that HR services can be combined with overall Enterprise services powered by Data/System/AI

How can you create a confidential space for mentor-coach conversations?
Readiness (as in acknowledging that coaching is a developmental path) of the coaches is often a forgotten success criteria. In certain cultures coaching is even seen as being “de-functional” in a certain way. Working on a common understanding that coaching will take you to new heights is essential. If the coaching is seen as “instructed”, line manager, coachee and HR need to work out a path, defer of consider a different learning and growth path. Is the leader of the coaches clear in her/his objectives from the coaching? Is s/he prepared to add to the growth of the coaches? Is s/he ready to engage when needed to support the coaching trajectory?

Why is strategic thinking important for leaders?
An additional perspective is - to say it with Porter - that strategy is always about making conscious choices, what to do as a business and what not to and why. The nature of the decision has to be long-term. After envisioning a future state, understanding, defining and planning how to get there, strategic capability then manifests itself in the ability to aligning an organisation - the Board, Investors, Management, building capability, people and teams to execute, relentlessly track monitor, adjust when and where needed and always incentives and reward the desired outcome.
