Enviu venture Circular Maritime Technologies (CMT International b.v.), in partnership with Huisman, has successfully kicked off its first showcase of the wire saw prototype. The test days—held on Dec 12th, Dec 17th, and Jan 7th—are an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the impact and potential of this innovative solution.   Think 400-meter-long vessels dismantled with unprecedented speed, precision, and sustainability.   Why does this matter? Traditional shipbreaking can be messy, unsafe, and far from green. Instead of putting band aids on broken systems, we dig deep to address the root causes of the challenges we face. Why? Because that’s where real, systemic change begins. Here’s how we put this lesson into action: 🤔 Diagnosing the problem: We don’t stop at what’s visible—like waste piling up or farmers struggling to make ends meet. We ask why it’s happening. Often, the answer lies in outdated systems, misaligned incentives, or a lack of infrastructure. 🔨 Rebuilding the system: From there, we focus on redesigning the system itself. This could mean creating ventures that promote circularity, ensuring fair value distribution in supply chains, or enabling sustainable behaviors through new business models. 💪 Empowering change: Solving the root problem often means working with partners, communities, and policymakers to shift mindsets, policies, and practices for good. Take Zero Waste Living Lab (a program by Enviu), for example. We don’t just clean up plastic pollution—we work to stop it at the source by rethinking how products are delivered and reused. Or FoodFlow (a program by Enviu), where we aim to rebuild food systems so they’re fairer for farmers and better for the planet.
