The expenditure estimates proposed in the 2025 Appropriation Bill stand at N49.7 trillion, significantly above the 2024 approved budget size (including amendments) of N28.8 trillion. All key provisions except capital expenditure increased in the 2025 budget proposal. Sectoral breakdown of the proposed budget showed that the Defence & Security sector takes the largest share of the budget, followed by the Social Services sectors (Education and Health). Meanwhile, the key assumptions underlying the budget proposal are quite ambitious, requiring bold steps to be taken by the government to achieve the set targets. 📊 Fostering Data-Driven Solutions for Nigeria’s Growth Earlier today, we hosted a distinguished delegation from the National Bureau of Statistics Nigeria (NBS) at the #NESG office in Abuja. Led by the Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the NBS, Mr Semiu Adeyemi Adeniran, the visit marked a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between our institutions. Our CEO, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, warmly welcomed the delegation, and together, we engaged in insightful discussions on critical areas of partnership. At the heart of our conversation was a shared commitment to improving statistical data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination—key pillars for informed decision-making and sustainable development. As Nigeria continues to navigate complex economic challenges, robust and accurate data remains essential for crafting policies that address the needs of all Nigerians. This collaboration aims to ensure that the statistical information generated is reliable and accessible to stakeholders across sectors, empowering evidence-based policymaking and driving impactful solutions. We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and look forward to working closely with the NBS to advance a shared vision of inclusive economic growth powered by data-driven insights. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to champion initiatives that shape Nigeria’s future. #NESG #NBS #Collaboration #DataDrivenPolicy #SustainableDevelopment
