We’re proud to share a significant milestone in our commitment to empowering the next generation. On Monday, November 25, 2024, at our headquarters in Lagos, we unveiled 33 exceptional undergraduates as the newest beneficiaries of the Guinness Nigeria Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme. This scholarship program, now in its fifth year, reflects our dedication to education and youth development. Each recipient will receive ₦200,000 annually to support their studies in public universities across Nigeria. Here are some highlights from this year: 1. Gender equity: Over 55% of the beneficiaries are female, a testament to our focus on fostering diversity in education and STEM fields. Inclusivity: Eight beneficiaries from the Federal Nigerian Society for the Blind were awarded scholarships, reinforcing our belief that talent knows no bounds. 2. Growing impact: With more than 18,000 applications this year, the program continues to inspire and support ambitious young Nigerians. Since its inception in 2019, this initiative has supported over 90 students, disbursing more than ₦43 million to empower their dreams. This achievement underscores our collective dedication to creating brighter futures and making a difference in the communities we serve. Road Safety is a Shared Responsibility! Last week at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba, we officially flagged off the 2024 Ember Months Campaign in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). This year’s theme, “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers than Drivers,” urges everyone—especially passengers—to actively advocate for safe driving practices. Our Managing Director, Girish Sharma, delivered an inspiring keynote, emphasizing that silence is not an option when lives are at stake. Road safety is a collective duty, and we must all play our part. The Townhall brought together FRSC, NDLEA , and other key stakeholders to address critical issues such as: - The dangers of drunk driving. - The socio-economic impact of road crashes. - The role of collaboration in promoting safer roads. With over 20 years of dedicated partnership, Guinness Nigeria and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) are proud to launch the 2024 Ember Months Campaign, under the theme, “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers than Drivers.” This campaign isn’t just about awareness; it is about empowering passengers and the public to take action. By speaking up against reckless driving, we can all play a role in making Nigeria’s roads safer during the busiest travel season of the year. This year’s campaign kicked off with a press conference in Lagos, where FRSC’s Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, highlighted the crucial role of all road users in promoting safe practices. Our Corporate Relations Director, Mr. Rotimi Odusola, reaffirmed Guinness Nigeria’s long-standing commitment to public safety, emphasizing, “Guinness Nigeria has been a partner to the FRSC for over 20 years, and our mission remains steadfast: to make Nigeria’s roads safer for everyone. This year’s campaign not only focuses on road safety but also on promoting responsible drinking. By empowering passengers and reminding everyone of their role, we can help ensure safe travels for all.” The campaign will include a motorcade roadshow, later on today, across Ojodu Berger, Ojota, Maryland, and Ikeja, with FRSC officials and Guinness Nigeria team members engaging with the public on responsible driving practices. The activities will conclude with a town hall meeting on November 14th, fostering an open platform for drivers, passengers, and stakeholders to address road safety concerns.
