Yet another milestone for MISC’s Offshore Business & Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering! At the recent Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Appreciation Day, they celebrated the achievement of 2 million Man-hours Without Lost Time Injury (LTI) for the FPSO Bunga Kertas Redeployment Project which ran for a 12- month duration. The Malaysian-flagged Eagle Vellore, a 300,000 dwt LNG Dual-Fuel VLCC is a milestone in our decarbonisation journey. Powered by dual-fuel LNG engines and featuring cutting-edge technologies, Eagle Vellore and its sister vessels (Eagle Veracruz and Eagle Ventura) are among the lowest emitting VLCCs available today when running on LNG vs. conventional fuels. These vessels offer up to a 24% reduction in carbon dioxide, 99% reduction in sulphur oxides, 85% reduction in nitrogen oxides and 95% particulate matter (based on manufacturer data). Optimised hull forms, propeller and equipment design further improves the ships’ energy efficiency. Currently, 15% of our global petroleum fleet is powered by LNG dual-fuel technology, and this percentage continues to rise. These next-generation VLCCs underscores our commitment to the clean energy transition and supports our mission of moving energy safely and sustainably.
