It stems from my own journey to achieving my MCC credential. Back in 2009, I thought I was ready to apply for my MCC. I had over 2500 hours of coaching under my belt. I had all the recommendations required, my recording selected, and I was ready for my live coaching exam. Or so I thought. Unfortunately, I soon found out that 1750 of those hours were filled with bad habits since I had never hired a mentor coach to call them out. When I started researching, I discovered that the pass rate for the MCC exam was only 7%. My heart sank. But instead of giving in to the fear of failure, I went into action mode. I created a group of 30 other PCCs ready to apply for their MCC, and I hosted monthly calls with MCC assessors as guests. I volunteered for mock oral MCC exams, recorded and transcribed every single client call, and painfully listened to them all. I worked with several mentor coaches to get feedback on my recordings, dug deeply into every ICF Core Competency, and immediately applied what I learned with my clients. I even approached the most intimidating MCC coaches and offered to coach them for free, asking for detailed feedback. I did 50 sessions with MCC coaches, and though I felt awkward and like a beginner all over again, I persevered. After a year of intense preparation, not only did I pass my MCC on the first try, but three out of four participants in my pilot group applied and passed. This experience led me to create a curriculum on how to become a masterful coach, which I have spent the last 15 years fine-tuning. Now, as an MCC assessor and mentor coach in 2024, I am dedicated to helping others achieve their MCC credential or simply elevate their coaching mastery. 3 reasons to get your PCC (Professional Certified Coach) with the ICF (International Coaching Federation) Here’s 3 good reasons to consider getting the PCC credential: 1. More marketable. You will become more marketable with a higher level credential. In fact, there are some coaching platforms and coaching organizations that require a PCC in order to work for them. You will better position yourself within the market with a PCC. 2. Professionally the PCC makes sense. Coaching is a big part of who you are and how you show up in the world so getting the Professional Certified Coach credential from the ICF makes sense for you and your coaching business. 3. Cost effective. When you get your PCC, you no longer have to do 10 mentorship sessions for each ICF renewal. Also, many students opt to go straight for the PCC as it means spending less money on multiple credential applications. Any other reasons you see to get your PCC?
