Sad ! I often think about the conversations that have influenced me on my journey.   One particularly impactful conversation I heard was on a podcast by Ranveer Allahbadia with Dr A Velumani. Dr. Velumani's journey from a small village to achieving something remarkable embodies resilience, focus, and simplicity. One thing he said that struck a chord with me was, "Don’t complain about what you don’t have. Make the best of what you do have."   These words aren't just advice – they're a way of life. It's about accepting where you are and finding the strength within yourself to create something extraordinary. When we stop complaining and start creating, we realize that we are capable of more than we ever imagined. Ultimately, it’s not about how much we have, but how much we make of what we have. And that's where true success lies.   As I reflect on the wisdom shared in this conversation, I'm reminded of the saying: "Sometimes, the most powerful lessons come from the simplest words," like those from Dr. Velumani.   1. Start where you are, with what you have. 2. Focus on what you can do today. 3. Turn challenges into opportunities. 4. Keep things simple. 5. Lead with empathy. 6. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. 7. Stay true to your values. 8. Make the most of what’s in front of you. 9. Believe in your potential. 10. In my role, I often accompany LIC agents to meet clients for discussions on health insurance. During these meetings, the agent also presents the benefits of LIC policies, highlighting their fixed returns. This frequently results in clients opting for LIC products, leaving me unable to close the sale for health insurance. While it would be inappropriate and unprofessional to ask the agent to refrain from discussing LIC offerings, this situation underscores the challenges of competing with traditional investment products that promise guaranteed returns. It also highlights the need for better positioning of health insurance as an essential financial safety net, distinct from investment-focused products. Accenture Q3FY24 results signal the status quo in the market. BFSI and Hi-Tech are struggling as usual. Other marginally growing. Order book growth is good. They are also facing challenges like Indian IT service providers decoupling between TCV and revenue growth. They are facing a decline in growth momentum in engineering or Industry X. In earlier quarters they had double-digit growth and now single digit growth in Industry X. Unwilling retirees. 40+ age group people are finding difficult to get full time employment opportunities suitable for their profile. I see this in tech sector in India. There is a clear demand/ supply mismatch for 40+ age group. Blame it on macro situation, technology changes, cost optimization initiatives, funding winter, the reality is that demand has significantly come down. What should people do? It was an interesting HR Round Table with the HR fraternity and experts from the #wellness field. Clearly, the #futureofwork will need to incorporate #employeewellbeing at the workplace. It would mean being sensitive to the physical health and #mentalhealth of employees. #Leadership initiatives would need to include #sustainableleadership and management leading to organizational sustainability. HR has a role to play in order to sensitize business leaders thru the 3 Ds - Data, Dialogue and Determination in convincing them on the importance of #holistic #employeewellbeing. It’s the #culture that will then speak for the organization thereby positively impacting #TalentAcquisition & #Talentretention.
