Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030: Here's what stood out to me: Aiming for Global Leadership: MIV 2030 is our ambitious plan to place India at the top of the global maritime industry. With over 150 initiatives, we’re geared up for coordinated and accelerated growth. Collaborative Effort: This vision is the result of extensive collaboration with more than 350 stakeholders from both public and private sectors. It's amazing to see ports, shipyards, and trade bodies coming together for a common goal. Major Port Enhancements: In the past five years, we've increased our port capacity by over 65%! Proud to see JNPT and Mundra ports now ranking among the top 40 global container ports. Inland Waterway Boom: Our inland waterway cargo share has grown from 0.5% to 2%, with an impressive 19% annual growth in cargo volumes. This shows immense potential for the future. Sustainability and Green Initiatives: MIV 2030 is not just about growth; it's about responsible growth. We’re focusing on sustainable development and green initiatives to ensure a safe and eco-friendly maritime environment. Substantial Investment: The vision includes an overall investment of INR 3,00,000-3,50,000 crore across ports, shipping, and inland waterways. It is indeed a major honor to be recognized as the Chief Data Officer of the Year 🙏. I am humbled to learn that my contributions to the Data Science and Analytics community have been recognised. I was in two minds after completion of my doctoral studies - whether to join academics or venture into the industry. Even then, in the industry should I continue in the field of Chemical Engineering or follow my passion around data and solve business problems - something I learned at Sloan and during my PhD work. I am glad I ventured out into the field of Data Sciences. Data sciences is an ever evolving field. Back in the 1990s the focus was on dimensional modeling to build data warehouses and data marts, and business intelligence. Two decades later we still build similar systems except that now we are dealing with large volumes of data getting generated at high velocity. That is Big Data. Machine learning algorithms developed in the 1980s and 1990s are finding practical relevance now. GenAI is the youngest kid in the block. I believe over time we will find Quantum AI and its ability to handle petabytes of data become a reality. Thanks #StrategINK for this great honor!
